In the beginning we hear all the encouragement and benefits regarding breastfeeding.

"Any amount of breastmilk she gets is beneficial."

"If you can, breastfeed her until the colostrum is gone."

"If you can just make it those first few months, he would benefit so much."

The encouragement continues UNTIL...

You hit that 1st birthday.

Then all of the encouragement stops and people start asking,

"When are you going to stop breastfeeding her."

"Do plan to pump it and put it in a cup."

"He is just using you as a pacifier."

So, here are some facts about breastmilk AFTER the first year👇🏼

16oz of breasmilk provides:
• 30% of daily calories needed
• Almost half of daily protein
• 20% of daily calcium
• So many vitamins and minerals

There is nothing wrong with continuing to breastfeed your little one past the first year! And if no one else is there to support you, I am here to say,

You are doing an AMAZING job, and I am proud of you🖤

He's a 2. 🥴😂

It's great to have your partner as involved as possible for pregnancy, labor, birth, and clear through Postpartum. Their role is so essential and can be a constant support. Their role is unique. No one could take away the type of love and support a partner brings. Or even a family member.

A doula is something different. A doula is trained and studies this particular phase of life on a daily basis. They've been to countless births and can almost hear what to do next in the sigh or the moan of the birther. We also are excellent at helping ensure the partner knows what to do in certain situations so they can support the birther even more!

I use "he" in this scenario because I have a husband and he would definitely be a 2 if he would have said this. 😂

That white stuff covering baby is or just . It is a white, creamy, naturally occurring fatty film covering the baby's skin during the last trimester of pregnancy. It protects the baby's skin and facilitates adaptation of the skin to the outside world in the first postnatal week if it is not washed or wiped away after birth.

If you look closely, beyond the vernix you can also see the beautiful layer of ... baby's first hair. It plays a critical role in protecting their skin and keeping them warm because it helps the vernix stick to the skin. Without vernix and lanugo amniotic fluid could damage baby's delicate skin.
