A Note about this Special SundayLive! Concert
Heather Thorn, “beloved adopted granddaughter” of Midge Bowman, the featured xylophonist and leader of Vivacity was booked for this August 2024 SundayLive! Concert long before Midge’s health began to fail. Serendipitously, this is the weekend of her “Celebration of Life” at St. Luke’s Cathedral on Friday, August 23. And, it is the perfect time for a very special SundayLive! and a remembrance of Midge from Heather, her Vivacity musicians AND additionally some very distinguished performers who passion ately wish to remember their special friend and revered mentor.
As you may know, Midge was one of the eight charter members of our SundayLive! Committee who was highly valued because of her profound commitment to bringing the performing arts to OLT. She had the ability and charisma to attract many of her legendary musician friends and she impressively delivered more than her share of concerts for our residents and friends to enjoy each month on a Sunday afternoon.
This free concert is sure to be a knock out performance by every jazz musician who performs in our OLT Chapel on Sunday, August 25th. We expect Midge’s treasured jazz friends and other highly esteemed music lovers from all over central Florida to be present, so you may want to come early. It will be a time to pay tribute to this amazing lady who actively lived and generously worked tirelessly as a volunteer until she was well over the age
of 102. We invite and encourage you to be a part of this momentous occasion, enjoy the splendid music, and help us celebrate our beloved Midge Bowman.

D-Day veterans return to Normandy for 80th anniversary of Allied invasion, Including Orlando Lutheran Towers own Chief Master Sgt. Mel Jenner (Ret.), U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mel's quote alone of " If anybody wants to talk about somebody being a hero, I always tell them... the hero's are still over there"
That was such heart tugging statement by him.

Nearly 200,000 thousand soldiers, principally Americans, Brits and Canadians, landed on June 6, 1944, across five beach sectors.
