Yesterday was a special day at UCF Lake Nona Hospital as we honored Orlando Fire Department Engine 13 and Rescue 8 crew members for their extraordinary efforts in the care of a cardiac patient they transported to the emergency room at UCF Lake Nona Hospital. Our EMS partners are critical to the lifesaving care we provide, bridging the gap between home and hospital. They begin treatment, communicate the patient's status so the ER team can quickly activate resources and ensure continuity of care for improved patient outcomes. We are proud to serve our community alongside our EMS heroes!

At HCA Florida Healthcare, we are better together – at work and in our communities. While volunteering happens year-round, our annual We Show Up for Our Communities initiative encourages colleagues to serve, either individually or with a team, during National Volunteer Month in April. For the last six years, Central Florida HCA Florida Healthcare colleagues have been showing up to fight hunger in our community through our partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. This year, nearly 100 volunteers donated 300 hours of service sorting food, household and school supplies and packing family meal boxes. We also presented a $20,000 donation to the nonprofit to provide additional nutritious meals for families. We are fortunate to have partners who share our vision for positively impacting the lives of others in our community.

This Earth Day, we’re reminded that caring for people extends to caring for the planet. Every small step – reducing waste, saving energy, conserving water – contributes to a healthier future.

At HCA Healthcare, our commitment to the care and improvement of human life includes protecting the environment we all share.

Together, we can help create healthier communities for generations to come.

A delivery (C-section) can be the safest option when certain concerns come up during pregnancy or labor – helping protect both you and your baby. C-sections are major abdominal surgery, and the most common surgery performed for pregnant patients in the U.S. If you’re preparing for childbirth, talk with your obstetrician about what may be the best path forward for you and your baby.

Here, Dr. Cindy Celnik, chief medical officer for HCA Healthcare Women’s Services, explains why doctors perform C-sections and what to expect if a C-section becomes part of your delivery experience.

Across our broader HCA Healthcare network, caregivers support more than 200,000 births each year, with care that’s personalized to you and your family. Looking for an obstetrician? Meet our experts and schedule an appointment: https://bit.ly/489mlUL
