As I put together the Leadership Training, this quote hit me like a ton of bricks.
Bill Gurley is one of the most successful venture capitalists in history and saw this his entire career.
He references Zuckerberg, the founders of Google, and Steve Jobs — all people who needed coaching, systems, and frameworks to lead their organizations forward.

And yet most small business owners believe they’re supposed to just “figure it out.”

They think:
-their team is the problem
-they need to hire better people
-or they just need to push harder

But the truth is much simpler.
Leadership is a skill.

Just like patient care.
Just like sales.
Just like marketing.

And if you want your business to grow beyond you, you have to learn the skill of leading people.

The good news? Bill Gurley also says it can be taught..and it needs to be systematic.

AKA leaders are made.

Hearing no

Raising prices.
Selling programs and plans
Asking to host a workshop.
Addressing a staff member who isn’t performing.

It all comes back to one thing.
Your ability to endure rejection.

You will get what you want in life in direct proportion to how much rejection you are willing to take.

You do not need to feel confident.

You do not need to fully believe in yourself.
You need to be able to hear no.

And keep going.

My biggest fear for those who are struggling is not that you cannot learn the skills.
Everyone in this room is smart enough.

It is that you will give up too soon.

Not because you are incapable.

But because you are unwilling to endure the discomfort of rejection long enough to win.

If you can increase your tolerance for no, your life changes.

CEO sessions last week. A blizzard hit and 10/12 flights were cancelled. DID NOT MATTER.

That's what CEO is. Not a title. Not revenue. It's ownership, it's an identity shift. It's solving problems when conditions aren't perfect.

It's tightening systems, making decisions, and leading forward no matter what. Different room. Same Standard.
