A number of years ago I was offered palliative care for my son because he was having seizures multiple times a day (by multiple, I’m talking about as much as 300+ seizures in one day.)
I was told it was his new baseline after findings on his EEG revealing seizure activity as frequent as every two minutes coming from “ all over “ his brain. “ Lighting up like a birthday cake “ said the doctor.
I was sent home from the hospital with my son in his car seat still seizing, because there were no new meds to try and no new choices for his team of doctors to implement.
I couldn’t stomach the thought of palliative care so I took my little boy home to die and while he slept I scoured the globe to find something, anything to keep him alive.
That search led to Medical Cannabis.
Today marks four years since this little wizard changed outdated unjust cannabis law when he returned to the UK with his medicine June 2018 . It was seized by border force, prompting a national outcry.
Within days my beautiful baby was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition and thankfully the home office returned his medicene.
A first of its kind decision was taken by the NHS to pay for his unlicensed Medical Cannabis perscription.
Four years on the medical establishment refuse to prescribe cannabis medicines on the NHS until their efficacy has been proven in clinical trials coupled with the Medical Cannabis Manufacturer’s resisting to invest in trials this has forced vulnerable chronically ill patients who benefit from unlicensed medicine, such as Billys , to turn to costly private perscription’s. This is beyond cruel.
With soaring bills and a cost of living crisis, it is a difficult time for patients who are struggling to afford their cannabis prescriptions.
The I Am Billy Foundation in collaboration with International Medical Manufacturer’s Cellen, Althea and Canopy Grow continue our work through the RESCAS Program .
If you are a parent of a child, or have a friend who’s child is presently been prescribed MC via private clinic and would like to have the opportunity to access gifted medicine while going through the RESCAS process , please reach out.
This is why we do what we do .
It’s this. What’s in this syringe means everything in the WORLD to Billy .
It means everything in the world to have this.
And it would mean everything in the world if every other child/adult suffering could have NHS funding like Billy.
It’s not easy but we are determined to make this happen . Billy is doing BEYOND well given his circumstances.
Thank god for cannabis. This medicine has pulled through and saved my sons life.
Silence on this page = every spare moment we are fighting for 1000’s of other Billys.
We are fighting good.
We did it once before and we will do it once again.
We will make you all proud. We promise.
Thank you for loving Billy,
Charlotte … 💜
