OCA- A Special Place for Special Needs

OCA- A Special Place for Special Needs OCA focuses on what an individual CAN DO.

Providing Opportunity, Building Community, Maximizing Ability for Individuals With Autism and Other Disabilities www.GoOCA.org

*All media content was taken with participants permission and does not include anyone currently receiving therapy services. OCA was founded in 2008 with the knowledge that children and adults with Autism and other disabilities need more opportunities to engage in age-appropriate activities with their typical peers. We offer Recreation Programs, Adult Program, Camps, Special Olympics training, ABA Therapy and other services for the Special Needs Community in Central Florida. “Special Needs” are commonly defined by what a person CAN’T do.

OCA’s team is built on shared values: dignity, respect, choice, and an ability-first mindset. Every staff member receives behavioral training, works within a four-day workweek structure with 15 closure days per year, and joins a culture that values both heart and professionalism. We are always interested in connecting with professionals and aspiring students in human services, education, psychology, and related fields who are seeking mission-driven work.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism for their continued support of OCA over the years 💙

We were honored to be named a recipient of this year’s Autism Community Impact Grants during the Flutie Foundation Holiday Spectacular, and are so thankful for the Foundation’s ongoing belief in our work and in the autism community. Your support truly makes a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.

🎾 We are so excited to share that OCA has officially teamed up with USTA to launch a brand new tennis program for OCA participants!

At our first practice it was full of big smiles, great energy, and so much fun on the court. We are incredibly grateful to Seminole County FL and USTA Florida for helping us create more opportunities for our participants to stay active, build confidence, and try something new.

We cannot wait for what’s ahead! 💙 See the full announcement ➡️

Caring for a loved one with special needs can feel isolating, especially when you are navigating long waitlists, complex systems, and tight budgets.

We hear from families every week who are trying to balance rent, food, transportation, and the services their loved one relies on.

You don't have to walk that road alone. 🤝 OCA was founded to say yes when others say no and to surround families with connection and support.

If you or someone you know is looking for a place to belong, share this post or reach out through gooca.org.

Looking for something to do? Here is a great community event that supports those who have served and protected our country 🇺🇸

Our OCA community is invited to take part in the Wounded War Fighter Lone Sailor 5K and 10K. It is a meaningful way to get involved, stay active, and support a great cause alongside others in our community.

We’re honored to welcome Tarsus Hunt to the OCA Board of Directors.

Tarsus has been part of the OCA story for over a decade as a longtime donor and supporter through Millennium Team Sports, including generously providing sports apparel for past events like our Bowl-a-thon.

His continued commitment to our mission and community makes this a meaningful full-circle moment. We’re grateful for his leadership and excited for what’s ahead.

Thank you to our amazing friends at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for hosting OCA’s Running Man Theatre actors for an incredible improv workshop!

Our actors had a blast working with Nick Johne from The Second City, diving into a wide variety of games and activities that sparked creativity, laughter, and teamwork. A special thank you to Kathie and Bill Hohns for supporting the Second City Residency and for visiting with us today!

Movement is part of the joy at OCA 💙

Staying active gives our participants a chance to build strength, confidence, and healthy routines while also supporting focus and overall well-being. These moments of movement are about feeling capable and proud.

These First Flight Academy participants are showing how physical activity can be energizing and fun, all while celebrating what they can do.

One of the things that makes OCA so special is that we support participants from early childhood through adulthood, walking alongside them through every stage of life. In a single week, you might see a preschooler learning to share, a teen preparing for Special Olympics, and an adult building job skills. Families often tell us they feel peace knowing there is a community that will grow with them. Thank you for helping make that possible.

Visit us at gooca.org to learn more about our and how you can continue to help us grow.
