PALS -Providing Autism Links & Support

PALS -Providing Autism Links & Support PALS is the nonprofit for UCF CARD constituents, aiding those with autism and related disabilities.

Currently PALS is assisting CARD to support over 18,000 individuals with autism within Central Florida. This relatively translates into over 37,600 parents, over 31,200 grandparents, and countless professionals. The number of individuals receiving and requesting supports and services has doubled in the last 5 years, funding as remained stagnant. Each professional staff member now supports between

800-1200 individuals. A constituency board comprised of family members representing persons with autism and related disabilities meets regularly with the Center staff to provide guidance on policies, priorities and activities.

Art is a beautiful form of expression, and those with autism can show their unique perspectives through their skills. Experience their works at the Art & Autism Exhibition at the Lake County Museum of Art! It's displayed from September 4th to September 27th, with an opening reception the night of the 4th.

The state of Florida has allocated $1,000,000 toward swimming lessons vouchers to combat the pediatric drowning problem!

These vouchers will be prioritized for children with autism and children who have a parent in the military. To qualify children must be under the age of 5 and their families must have incomes that are at 200% of the poverty level (or below). Open enrollment for vouchers is August 5 – September 1.

So far in 2025, there have been 79 fatal pediatric drownings in Florida, 17 of which were children with autism.

The state of Florida has responded by allocating $1,000,000 toward swimming lessons vouchers for children under the age of 5 whose families have incomes that are at 200% of the poverty level (or below). Open enrollment for vouchers is August 5 – September 1.
