What’s the ONE thing your young athlete MUST eat before game day? 🤔🏆

As fall sports season kicks off, it’s crucial to fuel our young athletes for success!

Carbohydrates are the KEY for that energy boost during games.

💡 For dinner the night before, think balance:

- Half the plate: Carbs (like pasta or rice)
- One-quarter: Protein (like chicken or turkey)
- One-quarter: Veggies (like broccoli or spinach)

✨ Snacks 1-3 hours before the game?

Try oatmeal with fruit, turkey sandwiches, or peanut butter crackers!

Right before the game, some quick options could be pretzels, mini bagels with jelly, or granola bars.

Hydration is just as important!

Aim to hydrate all day, targeting 5 to 7 ml of fluid per kg of body weight about four hours prior.

And don’t forget electrolyte-rich snacks during longer games to keep energy and focus up!

After the game, recovery is vital—within 30-60 minutes, refuel with turkey wraps, pasta with meat sauce, or even chocolate milk!

Let’s set our young athletes up for victory!

🤔 Are wearables a health revolution or a ticking time bomb?!

Recently, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. proposed that every American should wear a health tracker within four years.

But is this the right move for our kids?

Wearable health tech like smartwatches and fitness bands track heart rates, activity levels, and more.

While they help parents monitor health and encourage kids to be active, there are some concerns.

Pediatricians warn kids might obsess over their data, leading to anxiety.

Remember, these devices shouldn't replace traditional health check-ups or the wisdom you have about your child's well-being.

At Powers Pediatrics, we believe discussions with your pediatrician are essential before incorporating wearables into your child's routine.

Curious about how wearables can fit into a balanced lifestyle?

We’re here to guide you!
