The rate of veteran su***de reflects thousands of lives lost each year, and such premature deaths continue to warrant attention. STEPS has joined the Fire Watch program. A community initiative in Florida aimed at preventing veteran su***de through proactive outreach and support. We now join a network of trained Watch Standers who can identify warning signs and connect veterans to the resources they need.

Our Living Room is now open!
In The Living Room, we will provide you a safe and supportive alternative to emergency rooms. Our peer recovery support specialists will welcome you. These specialists have had personal experiences with mental health and substance use issues. They also have training that helps them provide you crisis intervention, recovery support and community resources.
The Living Room facilitates connections to ongoing mental health services, substance use treatment, and other community resources based on individual needs.
The Living Room is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, 24/7.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, provides clinical consultations with medical providers. Additionally provides brief and crisis interventions to primary care patients as needed. This position will include providing risk reduction, basic HIV education and medication/medical adherence through the Ryan White program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides brief intervention and crisis intervention as needed
Conducts initial patient assessments
Conducts psychosocial assessments
Develops treatment plans
Writes and maintains progress notes for all encounters
Performs case management duties as necessary
Participates in case staffing and administrative meetings
Acts as an advocate on behalf of the patient.
Provides emotional and practical support to patients, by engaging in problem solving.
Supports practicing healthy behaviors.
Engages those who have fallen out of care or have not entered care.
Follows-up with missed appointments.
Helps remove barriers to attending medical appointments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Must have first-hand understanding of issues related to living with HIV or AIDS.
• Honesty and genuine compassion for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
• Ability to be comfortable with the diversity of a multi-cultural community, such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation social economic status).
• Ability to help clients identify risk reduction strategies.
• Knowledge of major HIV and social services available from the community and other private programs.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, assignments and projects to meet established quality and time requirements

Education: Must be licensed by the Florida Department of Health
