๐ December might be the "most wonderful time of the year," but for many, it's also the most demanding time of the year. Between planning, shopping, cooking, and navigating family dynamics, itโs easy to pour from an empty cup.
This month, as you spread kindness and cheer to others, we encourage you to pause and practice a crucial form of giving: Self-Care in the form of Self-Compassion.
Self-Compassion looks like:
โ Saying "no" when your energy is low.
๐ Letting go of the pressure for something to be "perfect".
๐ Acknowledging that your feelings โ joy, stress, grief, or exhaustion โ are valid.
Take 15 minutes just for yourself, even when the to-do list is long.
Remember: You deserve the same kindness you show to everyone else. When you are kind to yourself, you are better equipped to enjoy the moments that truly matter.
Need help navigating the season? The Community Counseling Center's licensed mental health counselors are able to help you break through the noise, examine the pressures, explore the family dynamics, and discover what matters to you most.
