This , we're sharing Gabria's story. ✨

Gabria was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor, in August 2021 -- just 3 weeks before her 7th birthday. She underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor, then received six weeks of proton radiation therapy followed by about six months of intense chemotherapy. She is currently undergoing semi-annual full brain and spine scans along with oncology visits at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

"She continues to thrive and beat the odds," says her mom. 🧡

We went behind-the-scenes of News 6 WKMG / ClickOrlando's segment with Dr. Ryan Jafrani, pediatric neurosurgeon with the Orlando Health Children's Neuroscience Institute, to learn about deep brain stimulation (DBS) -- a treatment performed in the MRI suite in which an implanted device delivers electronic stimulation to targets deep in the brain. This procedure can result in fewer seizures for kiddos with epilepsy, and it can help patients with chronic pain, psychiatric disorders and movement disorders.

This is the first pediatric DBS case in Orlando, and the first pediatric case in the state that uses Clearpoint -- a stereotactic platform that provides real time feedback and is used to place the electrode leads. 🎉

Patients got a chance to learn about state-of-the-art architecture, engineering and construction when the team from Haskell came to visit Seacrest Studios (Ryan Seacrest Foundation) at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children recently. 👷🚧

Haskell is responsible for constructing the new Orlando Health Children’s Pavilion, located across from our hospital and set to open in 2026. While on air, the Haskell team talked about what is involved in building the $160 million building and shared with patients and families animated models they could explore on their own.

The Pavilion will bring together more than 30 pediatric specialties and services under one roof, enhancing physician collaboration, improving accessibility and streamlining kids' and parents' experiences. Overlooking downtown’s Lake Beauty Park on the Orlando Health campus, the six-story building will encompass 189,000 square feet of space dedicated to providing coordinated specialized care for children and families. ✨🧡

It's , and we're sharing some sweet photos of Loopie and Chance. ✨

Chance, born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, experienced a seizure in July. After being transported to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, he had tests run and was given medicine to help prevent future seizures.

During his stay, one of our facility dogs, Loopie, kept him company and eased his nerves. 🐕🧡 We're so grateful for our furry friends at the hospital who make our patients' stay a little less scary.
