AT 56, MUSCLE IS MY MEDICINE đź’Ş
Here’s the truth:After age 30, women naturally lose muscle—a condition called sarcopenia. Less muscle means slower metabolism, more fat storage, and stubborn weight gain.

That’s why I train weekly with Dr. Bill Biaggi at Orlando Sports Medicine to rebuild what time tries to take away.

I’ve struggled with weight since 23, and if you’re in the same place, let me reassure you: your body isn’t broken—and it’s not your fault.

Dr. Allison Haughton-Green’s passion for metabolic health runs deep—but nowhere is it more personal or powerful than in her commitment to helping patients with Down syndrome, a population facing a growing and often overlooked epidemic of obesity and metabolic disease.
This mission began at home, with her son Jordan.

At just 10 years old, Jordan—who has Down syndrome—was already struggling with obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. Like many families in the Down syndrome community, Dr. Haughton-Green saw firsthand how limited the resources were, how quickly weight gain occurred, and how often metabolic issues were dismissed as “inevitable.” As both a physician and a mother, she knew that had to change.

Using the same science-based, compassionate, and holistic metabolic approach she now brings to her patients, Dr. Haughton-Green helped Jordan heal his metabolism. Through targeted nutrition, inflammation reduction, and metabolic education tailored to his unique needs, Jordan lost an incredible 46 pounds of water and fat—a life-changing transformation for a child his age.
But the story doesn’t end there.

With Dr. Haughton-Green’s maintenance and accountability program, Jordan has successfully kept the weight off for 14 years. Today, he stands as living proof that metabolic disease in individuals with Down syndrome is not unavoidable—and that with the right education, support, and long-term strategy, lasting health is absolutely possible.

This experience shaped everything Dr. Haughton-Green does.

She understands that individuals with Down syndrome are at higher risk for insulin resistance, inflammation, and metabolic dysfunction—and that they deserve care that is proactive, respectful, and tailored, not reactive or dismissive. Her passion is rooted in advocacy: ensuring these patients are seen, understood, and given tools to thrive, not just survive.

For Dr. Haughton-Green, this work is more than medicine—it’s a calling. Every patient with Down syndrome she helps is a reflection of her love for her son and her determination to change the narrative around metabolic health in this community.

Jordan’s journey is a testament to what’s possible when science meets compassion—and it continues to inspire Dr. Haughton-Green every day as she works to give families hope, answers, and real, sustainable health. 💙
