What are you craving today? Are you listening to your body and what it wants? One of the many things I love about Traditional Chinese Medicine is the foods that you eat matter! Food is medicine! Woo Hoo! I’ve always believed that and it makes me really happy actually. I love sharing that info (what foods are best for a specific condition) w patients. 🍇🥭🍒🍏🍉🥕🥬🥑🧅🍋🍍

If you’re carrying any of these, it is a great time to get acupuncture. Acupuncture helps balance heavy emotions by regulating the nervous system, releasing mood-enhancing neurotransmitters, and balancing the body’s energy flow, or Qi. It can shift the body from a “fight-or-flight” stress response to a more relaxed “rest-and-digest” state.

From a biomedical perspective, acupuncture achieves emotional regulation through several key physiological mechanisms:
Balancing the nervous system: By stimulating specific acupoints, acupuncture activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes deep relaxation and counters the sympathetic nervous system’s stress-related responses. This shift helps reduce the physical and emotional tension associated with heavy emotions.
~Regulating neurotransmitters: Acupuncture modulates the release and function of key neurotransmitters that influence mood and well-being.
~Serotonin and Dopamine: It increases the levels of these “feel-good” chemicals in the brain, which are critical for mood regulation and are often imbalanced in cases of depression and anxiety.
~Endorphins: As a natural painkiller, the release of endorphins can create a sense of euphoria and relaxation, helping to alleviate distress.

~Lowering stress hormones: Acupuncture can reduce elevated levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which is often tied to depression and anxiety. By regulating the body’s stress response system (the HPA axis), it supports emotional resilience.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each emotion is paired with a specific organ system, so acupuncture on that corresponding channel helps relive that heavy emotion:

The organ-emotion connection: In TCM, heavy or prolonged emotions are believed to affect specific organs.
*Grief is associated with the Lungs.
*Anger and irritability are linked to the Liver.
*Worry and overthinking affect the Spleen.
*Fear and anxiety are connected to the Kidneys. This is why acupuncture works so well to calm down your emotions naturally without side effects. Try it you will like it.

📖 Did you know reading a novel is actually good for your health?
Curling up with a good book isn’t just relaxing—it’s therapeutic. Here’s why:

✨ Reduces stress
🧠 Boosts brain function & memory
❤️ Builds empathy & emotional intelligence
😴 Improves sleep (bye-bye screen time!)
🌿 Offers mental escape & emotional reset

I’ve found that many of my patients love to read, so I asked them:
“What’s the best novel you’ve read lately?” 📚

One title came up again and again—Happy Wife by Meredith Lavender & Kendall Shores. A juicy “who-dunnit” set right here in Winter Park, FL!

To celebrate, I’m giving away a copy to one lucky follower—and also gifting a Gift Certificate to The Writer’s Block Book Shop to one of my patients. 🛍️

Want to win the book? Here’s how:
📕 Follow this page
📕 Tag a health-conscious friend who loves to read
📕 Comment what you love most about this page
📕 Make sure you both follow this page

🏆 Open to U.S. residents only. Winner announced August 9th at 9:00 a.m. ✨

Totally agree with these. I even left a group chat w some best friends because it became overwhelming especially during my working hours. I had this wave a peace rush over me and felt a profound sense of relief. I prefer individual connection or small group connection. And I also love garden time first thing in the morning.
What changes have you made lately?

This patient is very athletic but did something that caused moderate back pain and limited his range of motion. I needled and cupped him yesterday afternoon. He told me this morning his range of motion increased significantly and is pain free.
