IS HOSPITAL THE “SAFEST” PLACE TO BIRTH?…….
(Referencing stats given on the “BIRTHING INSTINCTS PODCAST” linked HERE:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/birthing-instincts/id1552816683)
“THE FARM” STATISTICS (An out of hospital, Midwifery based practice, assisting family-expansion for over 50 years):
*HOSPITAL TRANSER: 5.6%
*CSECTION RATE: 1.7%
*POSTPARTUM HEMORRHAGE: 1.7%(75% of my personal clients have hemorrhaged, RECENTLY, in hospital, simply due to medical over-reach/unnecessary interventions)
*VBAC SUCCESS RATE: 96.8%
*INTACT PERINEUM POST-BIRTH: 68.7% *MATERNAL MORTALITY/MORBIDITY: 0%(Definitely no competing HERE, as I have personally assisted with seeking resources- donor breastmilk, mainly for 3 families in the last 6 months, because Mom died or was in serious condition due to “complications of childbirth” in a local hospital)
*BREASTFEEDING SUCCESS RATE: NOT given on this podcast, but I can PERSONALLY vouch for this being SIGNIFICANTLY elevated within Midwifery model of care, by comparison to OB led Mothers, mainly due to lack of education, and resources offered by Obstetrical care)
FOR CROSS-REFERENCE, from, “US NEWS & WORLD REPORT”, from data of about 4500 hospitals across the US, the #1 ranking hospital, BRIGHAM & WOMENS HOSPITAL:
*CSECTION RATE: 26%
*NEWBORN COMPLICATION or NICU NEEDED: 3.6%(I daresay this is definitely way too low for our local hospitals, as many babies are spending time in NICUs around our state, again,
largely due to medical over-reach and lack of respect or complete disregard for the perfect design of the Mother/baby dyad)
*BREASTFEEDING SUCCESS RATE: 44.9% (data of Moms at hospital discharge)
*VBAC SUCCES RATE: 20.6%
*NO INFORMATION OFFERED RE: Maternal Morbidity or Postpartum hemorrhage (but just a little digging would reveal the “why?”, here- The last 3 hospital births I attended- ALL medical inductions at the Suggestion of the Doctor- ALL ended in postpartum hemorrhage, with need for transfusions, multiple medications, and longer hospital stays, with interruption in the Mother-baby bonding process. Ive seen 0 out-of-hospital hemmorrhage in multiple years- not that it DOESNT happen, its just much more rare in presentation, most often due to the different approach)
IN THE YEARS OF EXPANDING YOUR FAMILY, YOU ARE A CONSUMER. You must seek out the assistance of those who will support your highest performance in pregnancy, birth & postpartum, FULL STOP. We spend thousands of dollars annually on beauty products, vacations, clothing, weddings, etc., but when it comes to spending the $$ to hire the team that will best support our babies in their journey Earthside, we fall short of what humanity deserves. There are 0 second chances in birth, which sets your childs health up LIFE-LONG. Most OBs have NEVER sat with a woman throughout the course of a "normal, physiological, unfolding of delivering her baby"- I would even go so far as to say you would be hard-pressed to find 1 MD, who has seen this even once.
CHOOSE CAREFULLY.
