BIG STEP FORWARD FOR FLORIDA’S MOST VULNERABLE STUDENTS
The Cameras in Classrooms Bill (HB 859 / SB 1170)
Moves Forward to Its Second Committee Meeting 🙌
This bill safeguards the rights, safety, and dignity of thousands of non-verbal special needs students across Florida, and each step forward brings us closer to that goal.
This progress is built on the dedication of parents and advocates who, for more than 15 years, have shown up, spoken out, and never stopped fighting to protect our most vulnerable students.
Thank you to the bill sponsors:
• Rep. Chambliss
• Sen. Calatayud
And heartfelt thanks to the educators, advocates, and mothers who dropped everything to travel to Tallahassee and bravely speak before the Florida Senate Committee on Education PreK-12. Your voices are powerful, and your advocacy is making a difference.
Tune in today at 9:00 AM on The Florida Channel for the House Committee on Cameras in Classrooms, where:
• Dina Justice, COO of The Arc of Florida, advocate, and mother of a non-verbal special needs child
• Annette Lizardo, President of the Autism Society of Florida, former special needs educator, and mother of a non-verbal special needs child
will appear in support of cameras in special needs classrooms.
Together, we are pushing for transparency, accountability, and protection for those who cannot speak for themselves.
