Class will be held at Ripple Hausx. If you're interested in attending... please complete the sign-up questionnaire! Address will be shared to approved registrants on Saturday.

This class runs approximately three hours and teaches life-saving intervention to help triage injuries and stabilize casualties until the arrival of higher-level care. Heavy focus on gunshot wounds and mass casualty situations, but lessons can be applied to a range of traumatic injuries.

Community First Response, a recognized training partner by the Council for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care, invites you to attend an emergency trauma care class teaching life-saving skills to marginalized communities and activists at-risk of targeted violence. The class is presented in cooperation....

At the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) (https://www.iitsec.org/) all last week. While it's a fairly small part of the total conference, I always like to check out the medical training and equipment companies to see what cool new things are rolling out. Always appreciate getting to connect with the team from North American Rescue (NAR) and TacMed Solutions, my usual go-to providers, as well as some of the other companies developing training and simulation products.

Tac-Med solutions had their K9 wound trainer out, which is always interesting to see. Some neat new wound moulages coming out from North American Rescue and they gave me a sample of a new compound to play around with called "Field Shield". It's a hydrogel spray compound using antimicrobial silver particles to sterilize with lidocaine for local pain management. It also contains a nanopolymer that forms a thin, semi-occlusive barrier over the wound that lasts about 24-hours to help shield the injury from outside germs. Meant for wound care for lacerations, abrasions, burns, amputation sites and other painful injuries to clean, hydrate, protect and offer some local pain management to the site. Definitely going in the big aid bag.

Unfortunately, NAR didn't bring out their Virtual Patient Immersive Trainer (VPIT) AR headset this year like the past couple years. It's an insanely cool augmented reality headset overlaying wounds and AR patient stimuli and response (AR wounds, bleeding, breathing, changes to skin color) mapped on top of a basic medical mannikin with ability for trainer to make adjustments to the "patient's" AR overlaid condition based on what the student is doing on the dummy. (https://www.narescue.com/simulation/simulator-vpit-meta-sys-includes-2-headsets-tab.html)

Vcom3D was showing some AR headsets that did similar AR overlays on a dummy but I personally liked the NAR system better. Vcom3D did have an interested full VR team trainer where multiple participants were presented complex medical simulations at a next level care facility, to allow teams to learn how to work together on casualties... even when not currently geo-located together.

Lots more pretty cool training and simulation products but thought this may be of interest for the group.

Here are photos from the third scenario run of today's mass casualty training exercise at the Mexican Consulate.

This was the most challenging of the scenario runs with highly aggressive counter-protestors, but also the addition of a third shooter who moved unnoticed around the back of the consulate building and emerged to start opening fire at the casualty collection point, taking out four members of the medical team and the triage lead at the CCP. The shooter was neutralized by the security team but the loss of medical personnel put a major strain on response and evacuation times. I think the photos may have dropped in sequentially on this batch.

Really exceptional day of training and allowing participants to exercise skills in a high-stress, immersive simulation. Thank you so much to all who helped come out and support this training day!

Photos from the second scenario run of our mass casualty training exercise conducted at the Mexican Consulate.

Upped the difficulty with more aggressive counter-protestors to challenge the Safety team further and added an additional hidden shooter with a rifle that the Security team spotted and quickly moved to neutralize before he was able to even open fire.

Photos got a little out of sequence on this batch. Kudos on all three runs for the rapid medical team response, swift casualty evacuation and the work at the Casualty Collection Point on the continuum of care and reacting to subsequent wound complications.

Fantastic training day today... running a mass casualty training exercise over at the Mexican Consulate. Close to 70 participants... ran the scenario three times... rotating roles and adding some additional difficulty with each successive iteration.

Photos here from the first scenario run... great response time from the medical team. Good work from the safety and security teams de-escalating situations, reacting to the active shooters and helping move casualties to the collection point!

Believe the photos are pretty much in order as Scenario A unfolded...

Savannah TECC training!

Sincere thanks to the Savannah Pride Center and Club One and for helping to organize and host three tactical emergency casualty care classes this past weekend in downtown Savannah. We were excited to bring this life-saving training to the Savannah community and appreciate the support and interest in the training.

Made some great connections as well that may be leading us to future training classes in Augusta, Valdosta and perhaps again back in Savannah in the future.

Emergency Medical Trauma Training
for the Savannah LGBTQ+ community!
August 2 -3, 2025!

On August 2nd and 3rd, we’re working with the Savannah Pride Center and Club One to organize Emergency Medical Trauma Classes specifically for the Savannah LGBTQ+ community.

This empowering workshop will be taught by Community First Response (https://www.facebook.com/communityfirstresponse) out of Orlando, FL. Based on the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) curriculum, this training provides critical life-saving skills to stabilize victims of gun-violence and other traumatic injuries until trained medical personnel arrive on scene.

Why is this class important? It’s all about giving our community, often threatened by targeted violence, the tools to respond confidently in a medical emergency to help save lives. Help us to ensure our community is equipped and resilient in the face of adversity!

📍 Location: Club One, 1 Jefferson St, Savannah, GA 31401
🕒 When: Three Classes currently scheduled -
Saturday, August 2 from 9:30am-1:00pm

TECC class for Ripple Hausx

We had a great training class, Sunday June 29th, with Ripple Hausx staff and allies. It's been exciting to see how much momentum Ripple Hausx is building in Orlando and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future with additional community defense training programs!

A big thank you to the Mexican Consulate of Orlando. You are amazing supporters of the local community and we thank you for your continued support and involvement! ❤️🇲🇽❤️

Community First Response also provided the Ripple Hausx staff a North American Rescue Public Access Bleeding Control Kit ($580 retail) courtesy of our 2024 Safety and Security grant from the Contigo Fund. While we truly hope it will never be required, we're very happy this grant from the Contigo Fund has enabled us to provide many of these kits to LGBTQ+ organizations across Central Florida.

TECC Class in Lakeland

Tremendous thanks to all the attendees and to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lakeland for hosting our Tactical Emergency Casualty Care class on June 22. Over 30 participants from a number of different community groups and activist organizations came out to learn critical life-saving intervention skills to help stabilize casualties until the arrival of higher-level medical assistance.

Requests for classes have been increasing in recent months, and we are pleased to be able to meet this need with such support from the community.

Contact us if you're interested in organizing a training event for your organization, or consider a donation to Community First Response through our 501(c)3 sponsor, Rose Dynasty Foundation Inc. to help us continue our work and reach more individuals and communities interested in learning how to act and save lives in a crisis. https://www.rosedynastyfoundationinc.org/cfr
