Melbourne Success Story: Celebrating Determination and Teamwork
We want to give a shoutout to our incredible team in Melbourne for helping make an inspiring recovery possible.
When Lowry arrived at our facility in November 2024 following a stroke, he faced significant challenges. At the time, he was unable to stand, walk, or transfer independently and required assistance from our dedicated CNA, Rohan. Lowry also had additional physical obstacles, standing very tall and weighing around 385 lbs.
From day one, Lowry was determined to regain his independence.
He arrived early each day and was always ready when therapy was available. Our Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy teams focused on strengthening his left side, improving mobility, and rebuilding his independence. OT worked with him on ADLs and strengthening his left lower extremity to support recovery. PT implemented loading techniques on his left leg to stabilize and strengthen it, helping prevent knee buckling during gait and transfers.
Thanks to his dedication and the support of our team, Lowry made tremendous progress.
Since his discharge, Lowry has returned several times to visit the facility and greet the team. He has returned to work at Verizon and recently transitioned to a new role at AT&T. During his most recent visit, he shared that he has lost 100 pounds and is now pursuing a management position.
