My life living at maintenance after losing 57 pounds, staying healthy, and keeping it off. I am an Independent Certified Optavia Coach. I am excited about the 5:1 meal plan with Optavia. I learned about the program from my family doctor, who is my coach. My starting weight was 187.5 on August 19, 2011 and on April 15, 2012, I reached my goal of 129, 58 pounds gone forever!!! I am so excited about this program and how it can help you but I am also a very disciplined person. I followed the program to a tee, which is required in order to make your goal. This program has meal replacements and we eat 6 times a day. Five meals we use a day are meal replacements which I help you order online and you create one meal yourself which includes 5-7 ounces of lean protein and 3 servings of nonstarchy veggies. You need to drink 64 ounces of water a day and can use crystal light or other 0 calorie beverages. The program limits your daily carb intake and keeps you at a certain amount of carbs per day so you need to follow it every single day to make your goal. This is also a discipline you will carry throughout your journey in life if you invest the time to do the program the way it is intended and learn the discipline required. I help with eating strategies for going out to dinner or going to parties and how to deal with others who will try to get you to cheat so that you cannot make your goal. Got my MRI results for my left knee. I have another appointment on St. Patrick’s Day. Im probably having surgery. The gal said to discuss cortisone injections or possible surgery. Im not interested in cortisone shots. I got two cortisone shots in my right heel for supposed plantar fasciitis. It was a temporary pain relief not a fix. This has been going on way too long. He already explained the arthroscopic procedure. One girl at work said her husband had meniscus surgery on both knees 12 to 15 years ago and he is doing fine still. That was nice to hear.

Got the MRI of my knee at 7:15 am. It was easier this time compared to the other two times. I went in feet first. Now to hear from the orthopedic doctor the results. I went earlier than what they said. I was to arrive by 7 for a 7:45 appointment. I was in their dept by 6:55. I was done by 7:52. Takes about 25 minutes. I then drove one hour away to hang with my daughter and granddaughters. Gotta do something fun to counteract the something not fun.

Got my MRI scheduled for Tuesday really early in the morning. My insurance approved it. The scheduler called me after I got home from work. So far, things are coming together easily.

Today, I visited an orthopedic surgeon. I had about 6 X-rays taken today of my left knee, front, back, stooped position, one foot behind the other, and my hips. I’ve been having popping and sticking with my left knee. My condition has been going on for probably six or more years and getting a bit worse in the last four years. I have ridden many miles on my bike since about 2013, almost 3000 miles. I think this probably got injured at Morraine State Park bike riding when I wrenched my knee. We have not ridden there much after that happened. Anyways, the good news is that I have no arthritis in my knees or hips. I have good range of motion. I have symptoms of a meniscus tear. Some tears heal, but since I have been biking and I also do chair aerobics on YouTube with Caroline Jordan Fitness, it’s considered I have already done physical therapy and it still did not get better. I’m currently waiting for the xray department to call me after they get permission from my insurance for an MRI. He says I will probably need an arthroscopy, to drill two small holes in my kneecap, look around with a camera, do some trimming, says I will need some time to heal but it is a fairly simple procedure. I asked if in five years, it would be ruined again and I would need more surgery. He said if I broke my arm and he casted it, I heal, cast comes off and I go out and fall again and reinjure it, I could have a problem. I asked if I could wait until Fall. He said I didn’t have to rush it. I want to ride my bike this summer then I won’t ride it right after surgery and can heal properly. My son in law had meniscus surgery. He told me my physical therapy will be pedaling a standing bike to get my knee back in shape. I was surprised when he considered my biking and workouts as physical therapy already done and I’m still not better. Next step is MRI if my insurance allows. He did offer me stronger drugs for pain. I said no thank you to that.

I’m overcoming driving a way I said I would never drive to get to work. The way I like to go has construction that is getting worse. I’ve been traveling two other highways to get to work. It is not my favorite way but I’m doing okay going this way.

One of my customers in my checkout line has a daughter with the same name as my granddaughter, Arya. We asked if we spelled it the same and then the gal behind her also had a daughter named Aria spelled a little differently. She visited a couple weeks ago. Yesterday, my last customer of the day was the lady again with the same name spelling. She was saying Arya and I said, you have an Arya too. She said to her mom that she brought with her, this lady has a granddaughter named Arya and if I remember correctly, it is spelled the same as her spelling. Arya’s grandma was buying a basket to hold Arya’s toys for her house. I remember scenarios more than faces. It was cool to see her again and enjoy a fun conversation. I showed her a picture of my granddaughters.

Ratio protein yogurt with 25 grams protein is 170 calories, 25 protein, and 9 carbs with 100 grams blackberries, 43 calories, 10 carbs, 1 protein. Total small meal is 213 calories, 19 carbs, 26 protein. I take this in my lunch to work as one of my meals.
