🏡Housing is Healthcare. This is Larry’s story…

For decades, Larry lived on the streets of Orlando.

What changed his story wasn’t just outreach.
It was supportive housing.

Once housed, Larry was able to receive medical care, mental health treatment, and supportive services. He regained routine. Stability. Dignity.

Larry has since passed away.

But he did not pass alone or forgotten.
He passed housed. Cared for. And Known.

At OBFH, we believe everyone deserves dignity and top quality care in life — and in death.

We are honored to be able to serve our neighbors in our community, along with so many others that are committed to this work.

A special shoutout to the Pathlight HOME for walking alongside us in this mission.

And a very special thank you to Ability Housing, formally known as the Wayne Densch Center, for serving as the place where Larry got to live.

Happy Black History Month! ❤️🖤💚

In honor of this month, we will be highlighting black figures throughout history who have pioneered significant changes in the medical field.

Today, we honor The Flying Black Medics.

The Flying Black Medics was a group of medical professionals, founded by Dr. Leonidas H. Berry in the 1960s, who flew from Chicago to Cairo, IL to provide necessary medical care to underprivileged communities.

This incredible group met people at the point of their needs in a time where racial tensions were at a significant high, and people needed access to healthcare.

This method of community-focused care continues to make waves in the medical field of the present day, and inspires us here at OBFH when we are providing care to our patients.

We are happy to announce that Publix Super Markets Charities provided a $15,000 grant to support the Barrier Buster Fund within our Permanent Supportive Housing Program!🎉

The Fund assists with PSH client needs that cannot be met with government or jurisdictional funding.

Barrier Buster Funds provide for items such as application fees, pet deposits, transportation for health care appointments, basic needs and more – addressing needs that help stabilize a client within the program.

Publix Super Markets Charities has supported HCCH since 1999 and we are incredibly grateful for their continued confidence in our efforts.

Orange Blossom Family Health was honored to recently receive the Concorde Employer of Distinction Award from Concorde Career Institute Orlando!

We are proud to partner with this incredible institution that provides top quality education to those pursuing various degrees and careers in the medical and dental fields.

Last month, we had the pleasure of witnessing three of our very own OBFH team members graduate from their respective Concorde Career Institute degree programs.

A very special congratulations to Ms. Dinatasha Alcius, Medical Assistant, Ms. Abigail Allen, Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, and Mrs. Dolly Acosta Ortega, RDH, BSDH - Lead Dental Hygienist.

We are incredibly proud of our team members and forever grateful to Concorde Institute for providing the education, training, tools, and support that helped shape them for greatness. 🧡

Last week, we joined OCPS ACE for their inspiring MLK Day of Service and their energetic Literacy on the Lawn Block Party. These events showcased ACE's dedication to nurturing their students' well-being, engaging families, and supporting education with heart.

After 28 years of dedicated service, Dr. Janet Hutchison, psychiatric nurse practitioner and an integral art of our behavioral health team, is taking a well-deserved retirement!

Dr. Hutchison has not only provided exemplary care to our patients but has also been a source of inspiration and mentorship to our staff. Her unwavering commitment and compassionate approach have left an indelible mark on our community and the countless lives she has touched.

Orange Blossom Family Health first opened its doors in 2006 as a caring service of Health Care Center for the Homeless, Inc. Our multi-disciplinary approach to care integrates primary medical care, oral health, vision, behavioral health and substance use, and pharmacy services.

In 2013, Orange Blossom Family Health opened its first satellite health center at United Against Poverty, and since that time has opened 5 additional satellite offices in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. In 2017, Orange Blossom Family Health opened its first pediatric health center, Orange Blossom Pediatrics, in the downtown Parramore community.

The mission of Orange Blossom Family Health is to provide quality health care services that improves the lives of medically indigent people in our community. We provide quality, affordable health care services that are accessible to everyone regardless of their ethnicity, socio-economic status, or ability to pay.
