When Healing Comes Back Home....
It has been exactly one year since I last saw this patient. Before she left my practice, I had treated her for about a year — a year spent stabilizing her, attempting to keep her out of the hospital, and helping her reclaim pieces of herself that had been buried under diagnosis after diagnosis.
She had spent years seeking help, but no one was truly listening. Providers didn’t know what to do with her, so she was given diagnosis after diagnosis and bandaid after bandaid — temporary fixes placed over a much deeper wound that no one seemed willing to look at.
This week, she walked back into my office… ON VACATION!
A woman who was once given a grim prognosis is now traveling, living, choosing joy — and she made it a priority to come see me!
Not because I had all the answers, but because she felt seen. Because she felt cared for. Because I didn’t give up on her. Because I spoiled her with the kind of attention, presence, and consistency she had never been offered in her medical journey.
Moments like this bring me back to the heart of my work. Not the quick fixes. Not the numbers. But the full circle moments — when someone who once fought just to stay out of the hospital is now out in the world, breathing, living, and choosing to return to a place where she felt safe.
If you’re craving care that sees the whole of you — not just your symptoms — my door is open. You deserve to feel supported, heard, and met exactly where you are.
