Interesting news story but full of misinformation and not sure if on purpose or not. Rare does not mean never. Case likely to be balamuthia, also a brain eating amoeba but one that is more difficult to diagnose and may take longer to kill you. Neti pots can infect you with both n.fowleri and balamuthia. See the links below for other cases in the news and see why the recent spin of the Florida case is completely inaccurate.

An invisible, dangerous brain-eating amoeba may have made it into tap water in Charlotte County. It's extremely rare for someone to get infected in the first place, but the Health Department is investigating a first-of-its-kind case.
