These PB cups are legit delicious and the perfect little treat to end a meal. Maybe I’m weird but I think they taste better (less fake flavor) than Reese’s. We keep them in the office for clients to try and everyone ends up asking me where to buy them. Costco keeps them stocked!

Not on the label: Recent testing revealed high levels of PFAS (forever chemicals) in the wrappers of Hershey products like Reese’s. PFAS are considered a health-risk and not allowed in products per the FDA. A class action lawsuit has been filed against Hershey, citing that other similar products do not contain PFAS.

Caffeine does NOT give you energy. It actually just blocks you from feeling tired... but only for awhile! Then, you're hit with a 2 PM slump.

Then what do most of us do?

Drink. More. Caffeine.

Or eat a bunch of sugar and refined junk.

But if sugar and coffee aren't the solution to the crash (and we can't nap because we're at work), what should we do instead?

In this episode of The Nutrition Awareness podcast, Kait breaks down:
✅ What’s really behind your daily energy crashes
✅ Why caffeine might be making things worse
✅ What to do instead to feel better, fast

If you're tired of being tired, this one’s for you.

I know, it’s crazy to think the time for lunchboxes and after school practice and activities is already here! One of my neighbors reached out to me, asking for help upgrading her kids snacks for the school year. I was happy to help, and figured some of our readers would benefit from this info too!

As a registered dietitian, my snack rules are simple:

Taste comes first. It has to taste good or you know they’re just going to trade for someone else’s fruit roll up.

Simple ingredients. Always real food first. I try to steer clear of unnecessary fillers, preservatives and BS ingredients that don’t benefit our kids.

Protein + fiber when possible. Most packaged snacks are filled with empty simple carbs. Chips and crackers aren’t going to cut it for a day full of learning and activities. Protein keeps kids full. Fiber keeps things moving and energy levels stable.

Low added sugar. Sugar from natural sources like fruit or dairy are best case scenario. I try to keep any added sugar modest and steer clear of any artificial sweeteners.

Can we just say... we love how Gen Z took the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for fiber and made it viral by calling it 'Fiber-maxxing' 😂

On episode 194 of Nutrition Awareness all about fiber-maxxing, we're discussing...
- The simple math behind how much fiber you really need per day
- Soluble vs. insoluble: why you need both and easy ways to get them
- Fiber‑maxxing myths (no, you don’t have to live on salads)
- High‑fiber meal hacks for busy people (including breakfast on the go)
- How fiber supports weight management, blood sugar, and cholesterol
- When to supplement and how to avoid the common “too much, too fast” mistake

Give it a listen and tell us what you think with a podcast rating or comment!

Save this list of actually healthy crunch options for your next grocery run:

• Simple Mills Almond Flour Rosemary: short ingredient list, kid-friendly, great dunked in ripe avocado or topped with rotisserie chicken

• Crunchmaster Multi-Seed: crave-worthy crunch and just-right salt; pair with hummus, tomatoes, + Babybel cheese

• Patagonia Provisions Sourdough: organic grains, sourdough tang, perfect on a charcuterie board (or with their roasted-garlic mackerel)

• Flackers Sea Salt Flaxseed: 100% seed based; sturdy enough for bean dip or a Boursin cheese

Dietitian cracker buying tips:
✔ Ingredients you recognize (skip “enriched” flours)
✔ Protein + healthy fats for staying power
✖ Ignore buzzwords like “stone-ground” or “multigrain” on the front—flip to the ingredient list instead.

Tag a snack-loving friend and let me know your favorite combo!

Now this is wild to me. This is considered a breakfast food? For our kids? To start their day, keep their energy levels up and their moods stable?

Now is not the time to just blame big food. They’re going to keep making what WE keep buying.

Bonus: The EnviroKidz also has 5g less of added sugar per cup.

We only want food in our food. Follow .awareness for more simple swaps!
