It may be hot and steamy here, but not in Skagway, Alaska, where Isabel Runnels is spending her summer. Isabel, a hospitality graduate, could have gotten a job in Orlando, but wanted to see the world.

“I hadn’t traveled very much. And even though I had studied event planning and event management, I’m still very undecided about what I want to do in the hospitality field. So, I thought, ‘Why not see what I like and not be stuck in the same place?’ Looking back, it was good to grow and expand a little bit.”

Our Director of Academic/Student Engagement Kimberly Guy, and professors Suzanne Bagnera (FIU), Craig Rapp (Valencia College), and Michelle Millar (University of San Francisco), came together for an insightful discussion on how collaboration can transform hospitality programs. 🏨💡

Have you taken the yet?!

A few weeks ago, thanks the Valencia College Downtown Campus student development , we had the funds to travel via BL to the Florida International University campus to offer students information on transfer opportunities !

Thanks to Brightline Trains and Jenny from their team who organized a tour of the Orlando station for our students, showing students how their operations work and opportunities in the field



And thanks to Michael Cheng, PhD, CHE , Dawn Fagnan Diann Newman , and their entire team for making us feel welcome and for the day. Students had a tour of the campus, a mock lecture, and scavenger hunt to explore the campus on their own.
