Current guidelines recommend that average-risk individuals begin screening at age 45. However, you may need earlier screening if you have:

A family history of colorectal cancer or polyps
A personal history of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis)
Certain genetic syndromes
