Study: Diabetes increasing among U.S. youth

The estimated number of U.S. residents under age 20 with type 1 diabetes increased 45% from 2001 to 2017 to 215 per 100,000, while the number with type 2 diabetes increased 95% to 67 per 100,000, according to a federally funded study published today in JAMA (Click for Key Points and Abstract). Type 1 diabetes remains more common among white youth while Type 2 diabetes remains more common among youth in racial or ethnic minority groups.

“More research is needed to better understand the underlying causes of the increases we’re seeing in type 1 and type 2 diabetes in U.S. youth,” said lead author Jean Lawrence, director of the Diabetes Epidemiology Program at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. “Increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes could be caused by rising rates of childhood obesity, in utero exposure to maternal obesity and diabetes, or increased diabetes screenings. The impact of diabetes on youth is concerning as it has the potential to negatively impact these youth as they age and could be an early indicator of the health of future generations.”

If you really know David and I, then you know that David’s employees are very much his chosen family. He admires how hard they work for him and the company and many of them have even followed him through his career with Pinnacle/Marriott. Francisco was no exception to that and was part of their work family to him and the rest of the crew. Francisco lost a very rough battle to COVID but gave the same fight he would have for everyone he worked for. Always happy and smiling and ready to fix the largest of issues for his team and boss. Francisco had a family/kids and a wife who also lost her father earlier that week before. You may or may not have known him but to me and all the guests who are friends of ours he was part of that hotels family. I ask if you can, to please help out in anyway possible. I will be able to pick up donations or provide transport if you wanted to head to the store for items. Anything will help. I know this is a tough time for many, but each day is a true blessing that we have here with our loved ones. If you are able to bless someone else in a time of grief, even a few dollars, please do. Let us support and love the family still here grieving over the loss of their father, husband, and family member. If I can be of assistance in providing your donation please do not hesitate to call me at (407) 310-1707. God bless you all who are able to help, and may God be ever so present to shelter and lift up this family in their time of such loss. May he Rest In Peace, for he will be truly missed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Please help Francisco's family as they face the challenges of the days, week… David Goodermote needs your support for Financial Support for Francisco's Family
