Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his tireless efforts to advance racial equality and the civil rights movement. His work reminds us that compassion, empathy, and understanding are essential both in creating social change and in how we treat one another every day. As we reflect on his legacy we are encouraged to support one another, foster connection, and continue working toward a more just and compassionate world.

Many people use the new year to set goals around health, balance, and personal growth. Mental wellness is an important part of that picture, and it often sets the foundation for lasting change. When you feel emotionally supported, it becomes easier to follow through on the habits you want to build, whether that means managing stress more effectively, improving relationships, or feeling more present in your day to day life.

At Coherence Counseling, we help clients turn intentions into sustainable practices by supporting emotional health, self awareness, and resilience.

Our brains are always working behind the scenes to keep us safe. When you have lived through trauma, the brain learns to scan for danger even when the present moment is not actually threatening. This can show up as anxiety that feels sudden or overwhelming. Amy works with clients using a variety of therapy techniques that help your system learn that it is safe now. With support, you can regain a sense of calm, connection, and resilience.

If you would like to start working on anxiety and build a calmer foundation, you can book with one of our therapists at the link below: https://coherencecounseling.janeapp.com/

Every relationship has its bright moments, its confusing moments, and a few debates that somehow escalate out of nowhere. Couples counseling gives you a space to step back, understand your patterns, and rebuild your connection.

It’s not about picking sides, and it’s not a courtroom. You don’t need to rehash every past argument. Instead, it’s about resetting your connection, improving communication, and learning how to navigate conflict without stress or door slamming.

Therapy does not have to feel heavy all the time. Sometimes the best way forward is realizing how hilariously human your arguments are. Humor does not dismiss the hard stuff. It makes it easier to face it together.

If you’re ready to feel closer, more understood, and more like a team, we’re here for you.

What is "Somatic Experiencing"?

Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to healing trauma, chronic stress, and emotional dysregulation. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine (who basically cracked the code on why humans freeze like a deer in headlights), SE works by helping your nervous system complete the natural fight, flight, or freeze responses that got stuck during overwhelming experiences.
SE addresses the dysregulation happening in the nervous system. The constant tenseness or feeling of ambivalence is a dysregulation in the body. SE is a body-centered treatment approach in which the nervous system is brought into regulation, which means it is functioning how it is designed to function, and the feelings of fight, flight, or freeze are released. It is a safe, gentle, and sustainable way to release trauma, stress, and anxiety that the body is carrying. This approach does not require a reliving of the horrible event or forcing oneself to “push through” the hard moments.

Meet the owner, Amy Esheman:

With 25 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I bring a blend of expertise and heart to my work. Over the years, I've had the privilege of helping clients navigate everything from life's toughest transitions to the complexities of trauma, anxiety, and relationship challenges.

My approach is rooted in authenticity, directness, and compassion. I believe in getting to the heart of what’s really going on, but I don’t take myself too seriously—I’ll use humor when appropriate to help make tough moments feel a little lighter. Life is already complicated, so I strive to make therapy a space that feels genuine, grounded, and supportive.

I spend time with my dog, Remy, watching and attending soccer matches, playing pickleball, and enjoying a good mystery book.

I’m all about meeting you where you are—with kindness, clarity, and a little bit of wit. If you’re looking for a therapist who will be genuine, straightforward, and committed to your journey, we’ll get along just fine. Life isn’t always easy, but that doesn’t mean we can’t face it with humor, honesty, and a whole lot of heart.
