Last night we celebrated our new office with the Oviedo-Winter Springs Chamber of Commerce!

Dr. Son Chau and his wife Trudy came to the US after the fall of Saigon. They worked on an assembly line making chips for Hitachi TVs until they saved enough money to go back to college and medical school in Texas. Dr. Chau matched at Orlando Health, which brought his family to FL.

After finishing residency, they opened up shop in 1991 in a small 2-room office on Curry Ford Road with only three employees. It was a small but mighty team!

We celebrate thirty years of providing care with his daughter Dr. Annie Chau and his son-in-law Dr. Huy Le joining the practice and the opening of our second location in Winter Springs!

We are a family-owned practice with two generations of healthcare and strive to treat you like family.

Thank you to the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce for the support and welcoming us to the community!

Exercise is a great way to manage blood sugar! It also is beneficial for mental health (it has helped me with my anxiety!) and improves the quality of your sleep.

Every minute of exercise counts ⏰ ! This morning we did a push-up challenge and did as many push-ups as we could in 10 minutes. You can modify and do push-ups on your knees or against the wall. Or challenge yourself with other exercises like squats, jumping jacks or mountain climbers. This is great to do when you’re short on time or without equipment. You can do it anywhere! Get creative!!

Here’s a Halloween 🎃 blood sugar hack!

Eat your Halloween candy after a meal instead of on an empty stomach. The protein and fat that you ate with your meal will blunt your blood sugar curve so you’re not on the rollercoaster 🎢

And go for a walk after you’ve enjoyed the candy! You will activate your muscles to use up the energy you’ve just consumed instead of it going into storage.

Snack Hack: keep healthy snacks in your car or travel bag you can eat when you’re on the go.

Beef jerky 🥩is one of my favorite blood-sugar friendly snacks. It’s high in protein to keep you full until your next meal. It also lasts for a while, so I always keep a few in my purse and travel bag for just in case.

One tip: watch out for the sugar content 🍭 in the beef jerky. It can sometimes have added sugar. Check the ingredient list and nutrition label for added sugar.

These brands are tasty with no added sugar.
They can be found at the grocery store or Amazon.

Chia seed pudding: not a pretty breakfast but yummy and faster than going to the drive thru!

This chia seed pudding took me 3 minutes to make. It’s filled with fiber, protein and healthy fat that will keep you full and off the blood sugar rollercoaster 🎢 .

4 tablespoons of chia seeds
Protein powder (I used chocolate)
1.5 cups Milk or Unsweetened nut milk (I used almond)

1. Add the protein powder and chia seeds into a mason jar and add the milk.
2. Shake and stick it in the fridge for at least 15 minutes or overnight.
3. Add more milk if it’s too thick.

Optional blood sugar friendly toppings: berries 🫐, coconut flakes 🥥 , nuts 🥜
