Patience. Oh, this is a hard one at times. There are plenty of times when overlooking an offense is the best option. Extend some grace when needed. Maybe they are tired, hungry, or have had a terrible day. Take a deep breath, don’t take it personally. Walk away or just stay quiet. If a person consistently says or does hurtful things, that is different.

Do you need help improving your patience or knowing when to draw the line and stand up for yourself? Feel free to give us a call or make an appointment. You can go online at www.providencecounseling.org.

To our fellow therapists, this says so well what we are all thinking and feeling. Our thoughts and prayers are with those closely impacted by this tragic loss.

Today, our mental health community grieves the tragic loss of Rebecca White, LMHC, who was killed Monday while serving her clients in Orlando.

Rebecca was doing what we all do every day - showing up to help those in pain, offering hope in dark moments, and creating space for healing. She was 44 years old. She was a licensed professional. She was one of us.

We didn’t know Rebecca personally, but we know her work. We know the courage it takes to sit across from suffering. We know the heart it requires to stay present with people in crisis. We know the calling that drives us to this sacred work, even when it comes with risks we don’t always talk about.

Our hearts break for Rebecca’s family, her colleagues, her clients who trusted her, and the brave client who tried to intervene and was also injured. We’re holding all of them in our prayers today.

To our fellow therapists: Please take a moment today to pause. To breathe. To acknowledge that what we do matters - and that sometimes, it costs more than it should.

Rebecca White’s life mattered. Her work mattered. Today, we honor her.

If you’re a therapist processing this tragedy, please reach out for support. You don’t have to carry this alone.

Rest in peace, Rebecca. 🕊️
