Our pelvic lymph nodes are working hard behind the scenes of the more well known ‘inguinal’ nodes found in our hips’ creases.
Located much deeper, and nestled further up within the pelvis, these node clusters make up a part of a larger *continuum of drainage* that extends the length of the spine.
The lymph from our lower body moves through the popliteal (posterior lower leg only), then inguinal, then pelvic, iliac, aortic, and so on…
This design allows for more thorough filtration of waste, pathogens, and excess fluid.
These nodes are built for immune defense, responding to infections and inflammation in the reproductive organs, bladder, and intestines.
Tissue overgrowth, hormone imbalances, scar tissue, tight clothing, shallow breathing mechanics, abdominal tension (suckin’ it in), and our sedentary culture can make for less than optimal drainage.
When our healing rivers struggle to clear inflammation and waste, it can exacerbate discomfort of a condition. Feelings of heaviness, bloating, swelling, and tissue congestion are messages from the lymphatic system.
We work with many pelvic health conditions in my Austin clinic, and optimizing lymph flow requires a multidisciplinary approach.
Organ manipulation, scar tissue work, breath work, kinesio tape, myofascial release, and manual lymph drainage techniques all fit together to support overall vitality and immune function. Fascia + lymph love helps to restore the fluid dynamics so your lymph can do what it’s born to do. Flow and heal.
These techniques are totally do-able, btw. Maybe you can’t do *everything* a therapist does but you can bring yourself great relief by putting your hands on your body with a little understanding and loving intention.
I hope you find relief from whatever symptoms you’re struggling with. Looking through the lymphatic lens can help. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
Much Lymph Love,
Leah
