The 2024 presidential race has magnified the extreme political and cultural division in the USA. Let’s be real, we are the United States of America in name only anymore! The 2020 presidential election “rebellion” amply demonstrated the fact that we are not united, and no amount of debate or calls for unity will ever change that. The Civil War was won but it never quite ended and is still being fought on local, state, and national fronts with increasing rancor. What has been going on for the past 50+ years politically in our country, has been a see-saw battle for control that always left half of the population somewhat content and the other half frustrated and angry, for at least 4 years. The insurrection of January 6, 2021 came close to “reigniting” the Civil War. Extreme political, cultural and religious polarization has rendered the Congress unable to govern and solve many urgent problems facing the Nation. Compromise is no longer the modus operandi the Constitution intended. It is a most difficult pill to swallow but the “great experiment”, the United States of America, has failed and the gridlock and animosity that prevail across the land is so toxic that if we don’t make some radical changes soon, things will get increasingly divisive and broad social unrest and violence will likely spread across the land. Realizing that there are too many beliefs that divide, it is time to craft a political solution that allows the Right and the Left to form their own political subdivisions. It is time for red and blue states, counties and cities to go their separate ways. It is clear, after almost 250 years, sharing the same border does not a nation make.
Next, an answer. (Excerpted from Chapter 2, “Humanity in Trouble and Our Failure to Act”
