We provide diabetic footwear to many patients. There is a fair amount of documentation required to qualify for this benefit. This morning I got a curt note regarding a 2nd request for the documentation from the doctor. I thanked them for the response and pointed out that had they responded to the first request they would not have gotten the 2nd. When we send the request it is at the behest of your patients. If we don't see a response we try again usually a week later.
It is considerate to respond, even in the negative. Right now we have dozens of referral requests that are seemingly being ignored by the physicians offices. Please have the courtesy to let us know if the patient doesn't qualify or if yours is the incorrect office to address the request to. We are trying to provide the best possible service to our patients and the co-operation of the doctors is critical to that end.
If you work in a physicians office and have any suggestions on how to better communicate these requests I'd appreciate hearing them. The last thing we are trying to do is harass the doctors or their staff.
