Biking to school with friends can be a great start to a child's day. Encourage kids and parents to follow these simple tips to keep bike riding safe and fun.

🚴‍♂️Wear a properly-fitted helmet. It’s the best way to reduce risk of head injuries!

➡️ Ride on the sidewalk when you can. If not, ride in the same direction as traffic as far on the right-hand side as possible.

🔆 Wear bright colors and use reflective gear that can help you be seen by drivers.

🛑 Follow the rules of the road by stopping at all stop signs and stoplights.

🚗 Teach your kids to stay alert and watch for cars and other students walking.

Visit Port Orange Regional Library and participate in VCPL’s annual How-To Fest!

There will be fun and educational activities and workshops presented for all ages – truly something for everyone! Also enjoy live music, popcorn, tasty beverages, and guest appearances by Port Orange Parks and Recreation’s very own Rec Man, Texas Roadhouse’s Andy the Armadillo, Bubbles the Clown, and members of the 501st Legion! In the Youth Section, there will be festival games, kids’ crafting, a scavenger hunt, face painting, and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office latent print examiners will offer parents the chance to get their child’s fingerprints taken - they will even put their print on a balloon to take home! Don’t forget to stop by the Reptile Encounter and give those cold-blooded creatures some warm love!
