MAIER's goal is to ensure that professionals, families, and individuals who are at risk of or have, identified disabilities receive information about high-leverage practices to promote inclusion. On October 1, 2022, MAIER expanded to include training that will be specific to high-leverage practices to promote inclusion and evidence-based inclusive teaching strategies for all school-age students, e

specially those at risk of or who have identified disabilities. Our mission is to build state-wide capacity to improve outcomes for individuals with disabilities through leadership, training, professional development, collaboration, family partnerships and research. On January 1, 2014 the Maine Autism Institute for Education and Research (MAIER) was launched as a partnership between the Maine Department of Education and the University of Maine, College of Education and Human Development (COEHD). Our mission is to build state-wide capacity to improve outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through leadership, training, professional development, collaboration, and research.
