Hi Playborhood! Here’s a great intervention for kids age 5 and up to help them decide what to do when bored or stressed! Have them create an origami fortune teller. (See link for tutorial on how to make fortune teller). Inside the fortune teller on the interior “triangles” have them draw or write 4-8 coping skills or leisure activities they can do by themselves. When bored or stressed encourage use of fortune teller to help them decide what activity to do! Only supplies needed are a writing instrument (color pencils preferred) and a standard piece of blank white paper. Happy International Play Therapy Week!

Hi! And Happy International Play Therapy Week! My name is Cristina Minchala, LMFT, RPT-S. I am your 2025 CalAPT President. I want to share a fun way to build rapport with a new client. I use these premade people cut-outs and stickers. On one side you can choose stickers that show what you like (e.g., favorite animal, food, movie, etc.), and on the other you can choose stickers that represent your strengths. You can write in the words or draw it if you don’t have the sticker you want. What are your favorite ways to build rapport with your clients?

NO COST TO BUTTE COUNTY FAMILIES: Cloverleaf Family Counseling now offers RAP-A and RAP-A-ASD!

What is RAP-A?

The cognitive-behavioral component provides the techniques of keeping calm, cognitive restructuring and problem solving. The interpersonal component stresses the importance of promoting harmony and dealing with conflict and role disputes by developing an understanding of the perspective of others. The common thread that runs through the program is the teaching of techniques to maintain self-esteem in the face of a variety of stressors.

Who Can Participate?
Adolescents 11-16 years-of-age.

What is RAP-A-ASD?

RAP-A-ASD aims to address emotional difficulties such as stress, anxiety, or depression. These emotional difficulties can arise from study demands, performance expectations, school belonging, peer pressure, conflict, and family difficulties. The RAP-A-ASD program aims to help young people cope with these developmental challenges of their teenage years.

The RAP-A-ASD can be delivered individually or to groups

Who Can Participate? Autistic Adolescents 11-16 years-of-age.

Join Us! Playful, Inclusive Neurodiversity Group (PING)
Neurodiversity-Affirming, Sensory-Aware Play and Connect Group for People 6-14 years of age.
Play and art activities will be offered, but participation in the selected activities is not required.
Pixar (PG) movies will be shown weekly.
Quiet spaces and sensory experiences will be provided.
We are hoping to provide a no pressure opportunity for individuals to engage as much or as little as they choose.
Snacks and drinks will be served (if your kiddo has dietary restrictions please provide your own snacks).
Parents are asked to stay on-site or within a 10 minute drive time.
