Scammers are extra busy this time of year. They may pretend to be from Medicare or an insurance company to try to steal your personal information or even enroll you in a plan without your knowledge.

Remember, legitimate agents and brokers who represent Medicare plans need your permission before contacting you. If you get an unsolicited call, just hang up. Uninvited emails or texts? You can ignore those, too. Protect yourselves!

Commentary on the need for external validation.

Sometimes, when we seek attention and validation externally from likes, comments, constant approval, or the applause of others, we're trying to fill a bucket with a hole in the bottom. No amount of external praise can truly satisfy a need that must be met from within.

​The most powerful and lasting source of worth isn't found in what others think of you; it's found in what you know to be true about yourself. ​Shift Your Focus Inward. ​Instead of focusing on what you lack from the outside world, start building your own internal reservoir of self-worth.

​The attention you receive from the world is fleeting; the respect you earn from yourself is the only thing that truly lasts. Start nourishing your soul from the inside out, and you’ll find that the hunger for external validation begins to fade.

Jean Cornman shared the knowledge she has learned in her position as the Bereavement Services Coordinator for Northern Light in Bangor and Brewer and as an Episcopal priest.
