I am the Lotus Retreat Page Welcome to the FB page for the "I am the Lotus" retreat. I look forward to sharing a special and insightful day with you. It is still and at peace.

I am the Lotus...

Out of the dark waters of mud and shadows the lotus blooms. It emerges with beauty and purity in spite of what came before or what will come after. It is not offended by rain and tears; both fall gently away. It is made for such things and expects that the path will not always be sunny. Opening to life it shines brightly; it’s colors clear and crisp. It sings of oneness and yet shares its existence with many. We as well are born out of mystery and forgotten seas into breath; a pure vessel of awareness. Our days unfold quickly scattering our focus in so many directions. Experiences both good and not so good muddy the waters we exist in. It is not uncommon to forget our source of joy and love as we slip beneath the waves of life. We may ourselves seek relief and peace in oblivion. Distractions in many forms can become the way as we seek comfort and escape from the sufferings of our inner and outer worlds. Ultimately it is the transformation of stress and suffering through conscious effort and the return to one’s divine nature that allows the time we spend in life to be fruitful and soul expanding. Take time out of your daily “to-do’s” to practice just being. Following the pathways of the energetic centers of the body through seven simple, and brief meditations in nature, participants can hope to discover inner truth and inspiration.

Just leave your leaves!
1. Fallen leaves are the refuge for overwintering butterflies and moths. Wrapped in their cocoons, many, many species of butterflies and moths (lepidoptera) over-winter in the leaves and other spent plant material.
2. Birds rely on leaves and spent plants. The fallen leaves, dead grasses and other plants are all part of a habitat that supports birds. In spring and summer, nesting songbirds raise their young on insects and worms that are at home in the dead plants and leaves.
3. Toads and Salamanders live in there. Leaves are vital wildlife habitat. Critters ranging from turtles and toads to birds, mammals and invertebrates rely on leaf litter for food, shelter and nesting material.
4. Leaves are a natural mulch. They help suppress weeds and fertilizes the soil as it breaks down.
5. The layers of expired plants reduce soil erosion and help moderate the speed of water run-off and absorption.
6. The less time you spend raking leaves the more time you’ll have to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather

What is this retreat all about?

Sometimes in the busyness of life a person will come across an invitation to come home to self if only for a brief moment or a warm day in August. This retreat is your invitation if it speaks to your being and you RSVP.

Throughout the morning you will visit each of seven benches scattered throughout the garden. These beautiful locations have been specially chosen. Using gentle breathing mediations and a guided map provided, you will have the opportunity to explore:
your family and sense of belonging, your unique purpose at this time in life, your swimming pool of emotions, the openness of your heart including your ability to give and receive love, speaking your truth with courage, trusting your intuition and inner guidance, and finally the nature of your being and your divine connection to all that is.

Following a brief lunch, participants will gather in the outdoor pavilion to share key insights or experiences from the morning.
You will leave with informational tools for your continued explorations, an invitation to a private-participant only Facebook group to provide continued support and inspiration after the retreat, and a small reminder of who your really are. Spending this day together surrounded and supported by nature will hopefully lead to renewed hope and an internal "news source" to support your continued growth and peace.

Space is limited to 8 people, but if there is considerable interest, I will attempt to add an additional day.
