If you like a product or ingredient and it works for you— use it. I’ll always support that. Skincare is this interesting blend of science and your own unique skin needs. What works for someone else, might not work for you. Similarly with acne, if you are acne prone you have to be more mindful of common acne triggers and find out which are contributing to yours. If you are not acne prone, you usually don’t have to worry about those things (diet, pore clogging ingredients, etc.)
I just don’t believe in the hype some of these natural ingredients are getting.. Beef Tallow is just not biologically compatible with human skin. It is derived from cow fat—natural for cows, not people / skin. While it does contain some nutrients like fatty acids and vitamins, it lacks the bioavailability and absorption your skin actually needs. Along with tallow— castor oil and coconut oil also just sit on top of the skin. Being too occlusive, and thicker than your natural sebum, locks oil in the pores and causes clogged pores / breakouts. These ingredients don’t have the delivery systems and formulations to make drastic changes in the skin like some of the claims. Castor Oil won’t replace Botox 😂
My point is: many of the most common skincare ingredients—despite their long, science-y names or being labeled as ‘acids’—have been extensively studied, tested, and proven safe and effective over time. These ingredients are often even more stable, pure, and regulated than their ‘natural’ counterparts, especially those diy products, and are designed with advanced delivery systems to actually pe*****te the skin, work with our skin, and give real, lasting results.
