Please join us in congratulating Josh Steinberg, our 2026 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® recipient, an honor recognizing nurses who go above and beyond to provide compassionate, skillful care. We surprised Josh with the award this morning, joined by close family, staff and friends at a special cinnamon-roll breakfast.

Josh was nominated by a patient’s family for the exceptional care he provided during an end-of-life hospice journey. Through his calm presence, clinical expertise, and compassionate communication, he helped create an environment of dignity, comfort, and peace.

In the nomination, the family shared: “His dedication, competence, and compassion are extraordinary. He gave our family the gift of being fully present in those final moments.”

Josh truly exemplifies what it means to be an extraordinary nurse, and we are proud to have him on our team. đź’›

Congratulations, Josh, and thank you for the difference you make every day.

We would also like to recognize our DAISY nominees, who each represent the compassion and excellence of our nursing team: Angie Byrnes, Kelli Duren, Samantha Groh, Meghan Hutzel, Becca Linkenmeyer, and Kelly Ross.

The award was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. His family was deeply touched by the care and compassion shown by his nurses, which inspired them to create the DAISY Foundation. The DAISY Foundation requests that when a nurse receives the DAISY Award, the organization is served cinnamon rolls to honor Patrick's tradition of saying "thank you" to the nurses who cared for him.
