Myth #1 👉 “I just need to be stricter with my diet.”
FACT: Starving, cutting carbs, or eating tiny portions only tells your body it’s in danger — and a stressed, menopausal body will cling to fat. Sustainable, balanced eating is what actually turns weight loss back on.

Myth #2 👉 “Fat makes me fat.”

Questions to ask yourself if you’re DONE fighting your midlife body and carrying this weight:

WHY do I want this weight gone—really?
Not the polite answer.
The honest one.
The one about the jeans, the mirrors, the photos, the confidence you miss.

HOW would my life feel different if this weight wasn’t controlling me anymore?
More energy.
More ease.
More freedom in your own skin.

What am I most looking forward to when this finally shifts?
Feeling attractive again.
Saying yes to plans without panic.
Getting dressed without that heavy sigh.

What has stopped me so far?
Doing “everything right” with nothing to show for it?

Every morning, I’m dragging myself out the door like a responsible adult…

Simple switches make a massive difference.

The moment I stopped following the so-called “rules” every health expert was preaching… everything changed.

I realized a peaceful walk along the lake did WAY more for my body than forcing myself through an hour at the gym.
I kept my meals stupid-simple instead of exhausting myself with elaborate recipes.
And let’s talk about the lie that you must wake up at 5:30am to be healthy…

Once I dropped that nonsense and actually slept in on the weekends (because my body needed it), my health — and my mood — improved fast.

Here’s the truth no one says out loud:
You don’t need more discipline. You need a plan that fits YOU.

If something isn’t working, it’s not a failure — it’s feedback. Change it.

When someone tells me they’re planning to “quickly drop 20 pounds for their daughter’s wedding”…

My heart sinks a little.
Because I know what that usually means.

Starving.
Panic-dieting.
Punishing their body in the name of a dress.

And I get it.
You want to feel confident.
You don’t want to hide in photos.
You don’t want to spend one of the most important days of your life thinking about your stomach instead of your daughter.

But here’s the brutal truth no one tells you:

Cutting carbs and fat doesn’t make you strong.
It tells your body it’s under attack.

And when your body feels threatened, it fights back.

Hunger becomes relentless—not because you’re weak, but because your body is trying to survive
Your metabolism slows to a crawl to conserve energy
Your energy tanks, your mood shifts, and your confidence erodes right when you need it most

And the cruel part?
You blame yourself…
Instead of the plan that set you up to fail.

You don’t need to shrink yourself to be worthy of that moment.

How I start my day changes everything…

Before the world gets loud, before the to-do list tries to own me, I set the tone on purpose — not by accident.

Here are the top five things I do to make sure I start my day like a woman who’s in charge of her life (not just reacting to it):

Two minutes of 4-7-8 breathing
Because calming my nervous system before my feet even hit the floor is my secret weapon.

A big glass of water
Hydration before caffeination. My body deserves that kind of respect.

Coffeeeeee = Me Time
No guilt. No rush. Just me, my mug, and a moment to exist before the world needs me.

Miracle Morning practice
Silence. Affirmations. Visualization. Movement. Reading. Journaling.
It grounds me. It sharpens me. It pulls me back into who I want to be.

Protein-packed breakfast
Because I refuse to let my blood sugar dictate my mood, my cravings, or my day.

You don’t need to be the “expert.”
In fact? Pretending you are is the fastest way to stay stuck.

I’ve been running into this a LOT lately…
People nodding along, smiling, acting like they’ve got it handled—when inside they’re drowning.

This morning I was chatting with a client who I swore had a concept nailed.
They sounded confident. They said all the right things.
So naturally, I assumed they were good.

Three weeks later?
Zero progress.
Not because they were lazy. Not because they weren’t trying.
But because they were too scared to say, “Hey… I actually don’t get this.”

The moment they finally told me the truth?
BAM.
Everything shifted.
With the real information, I was able to help them instantly.
One conversation and they were moving again.

So listen…
PLEASE don’t pretend you know more than you do.
Don’t fake clarity.
Don’t act like you’ve got it “more together” than you really do.

That helps NO ONE—not you, not me, not your future self who’s begging for momentum.

My biggest frustration…

Let me be brutally honest for a second…

My hands-down biggest frustration when I was trying to lose weight was this:

I’d spend all day being “good” — counting every calorie, eating the cleanest lunch imaginable —
and by 2:30 PM I was elbow-deep in the staff lounge snacks like some possessed carb-gremlin.
Chips. Cookies. Whatever was left.
Didn’t matter. If it was there, it was over.

And every single time it happened, the shame hit HARD.

I’d think:
“Seriously? Why can’t I just get it together? Why am I like this? Maybe I’ll never lose this weight.”

It felt like a personal failure… like I was broken… like everyone else had willpower and I somehow missed that genetic memo.

But here’s the truth I wish I had learned sooner:

Now, when I veer off my plan?
I don’t spiral.
I don’t shame myself.
I don’t make it mean something about my worth or my future.

I take a breath and remind myself:

I’m actually doing my damn best
Sugar cravings are REAL (and your body isn’t “weak” — it’s trying to tell you something)
And yes… I probably need more protein because holy hell does that change everything

And listen… if you need to put a lock on the staff lounge door?
I fully support that decision. 😆
