It's always a good time to talk to your children about emergency preparedness. The American Red Cross has a free app to help children prepare for real-life emergencies – it’s a fun game called “Monster Guard.”

The ‘Monster Guard: Prepare for Emergencies App’ provides 7- to 11-year-olds with a gaming environment to learn how to prevent emergencies like home fires, and what to do if severe weather or natural disasters occur.

Children role play as various monster characters and earn points as they go through the episodes for different hazards such as home fires, tornadoes and floods.
