On this day of gratitude, I just want to pause and say thank you.
Thank you to every person who has supported The Body Mechanic LMT, whether you’ve come in for a session, shared a post, referred a friend, or simply believed in the work I do.

A huge thank you to my wife and my family for being my steady ground, my encouragement, and my “why.”
You keep me grounded so I can help others feel supported, too.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. May your day be filled with connection, warmth, and moments that remind you of what truly matters. 🧡🍂

📣 Big news in the Fascial Counterstrain world!

A brand new scientific article has just been published in the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine by Brian Tuckey, the founder of Fascial Counterstrain (FCS)

A new medical journal article just came out showing how FCS:

✨ This paper highlights:
• The physiological model behind FCS
• How this gentle technique supports the musculoskeletal, visceral, vascular & neurological systems
• A powerful case showcasing meaningful improvements in chronic pain
• Unlocks trapped inflammation
•Improves pain and movement

This work continues to validate what I see every week in the clinic your body can heal with the right support.

I’m excited to see this approach continue to gain recognition in the scientific community and feel grateful to share these benefits with my own clients every day. 🙌

Since the publication of “Jones Strain and Counterstrain” in 1995, there have been few documented methodological advancements in Counterstrain. However, over the past 20 years, Strain and Counterstrain (SCS) has been systematically expanded from a primarily musculoskeletal technique to a novel, ...

This weekend I completed Fascial Counterstrain Venous & Lymphatic, Part 2, diving deeper into how gentle, precise work can calm neuro-inflammation in and around the spine, dura, and brain’s drainage pathways.

What this means for you:
• Softer, safer ways to help with stubborn, long term pain
• Support for “pressure” headaches, post-concussion symptoms, brain fog, and restless legs style tension, pain, etc
• Better strategies for nerve related tightness (that rigid, won’t stretch muscle feel)
• Focused techniques to improve the body’s own drainage/clearing systems (our Lympathic system ) so healing can actually stick!

How it feels: light, comfortable positioning and tiny corrections—no forcing, no pushing through pain. We’re simply creating a better internal environment so your body can do what it’s designed to do: heal.

If your story is “I’ve tried everything and it helps… but not for long,” this is for you.
Message me with your situation I’d love to hear your story and help you along your journey.

Where Does the Lymph Go After Drainage?

From Puff to Flush—Your Body’s Hidden Detox Highway!

Hey Lymphies!
Ever wondered what actually happens to the lymph after your MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) or dry brushing session? Where does all that puffiness and extra fluid go? Let’s take a journey through your body’s magical drainage map—because the flow doesn’t stop at your skin!

First Things First—What IS Lymph?

Lymph is a clear-ish fluid filled with:
• Water
• Proteins
• Cellular waste
• Immune cells
• Bacteria, viruses, and toxins

It’s like your body’s wastewater, and your lymphatic system is the plumbing network designed to collect it from your tissues and send it packing!

The Drainage Route (The Fun Part!)

After you stimulate your lymphatic system (through MLD, exercise, rebounding, or infrared saunas), here’s what happens step-by-step:

1. Tissues → Lymph Capillaries
Lymph fluid is collected from between your cells (where waste builds up). Think of this as your body picking up trash from every neighborhood.

2. Lymph Capillaries → Collecting Vessels
These vessels have valves to push lymph forward (like a one-way street!). They move it toward central lymph nodes.

3. Nodes → Filter Party!
Lymph passes through lymph nodes, where it gets filtered. Immune cells here attack bacteria, viruses, and debris.
It’s like your lymph goes through a security checkpoint!

4. Cleaned Lymph → Ducts
Filtered lymph travels to the thoracic duct (left side of your neck) or right lymphatic duct—the final stop before exiting!

5. Ducts → Subclavian Vein
Here’s the magic moment!
The ducts drain the lymph directly into your bloodstream, at the base of your neck, where the subclavian vein lives.

6. Bloodstream → Kidneys + Liver
Now the filtered lymph becomes part of your circulating blood. From here:
• Kidneys filter out water-soluble waste → p*e it out!
• Liver handles fat-soluble toxins and waste → p**p it out!

And voilĂ !
Your lymph just became waste… and left your body.
Flush complete!

That’s Why You Might Notice…
• More p*eing after a session
• Increased bowel movements
• Feeling thirsty
• Fatigue (your body is processing the detox!)
• Reduced swelling or puffiness

So YES—you’re not imagining it. The flush is real.

Fun Lymphie Facts:
• You have 500–700 lymph nodes in your body!
• The thoracic duct drains around 75% of your lymph!
• Your lymphatic system can move 1.5–3 liters of lymph per day with the right support!
• No heart? No pump! The lymph system depends on movement, breath, and pressure (that’s why you NEED to move!).

Support the Flush:
• Hydrate (lymph is mostly water!)
• Move daily (walking, rebounding, stretching)
• Breathe deep (diaphragmatic breathing helps move lymph!)
• Massage & MLD
• Eat clean (to reduce toxin load)

So, Where Does It Go?

In simple terms:
Lymph → Blood → Kidneys/Liver → Toilet!
Your body is brilliant. And your lymphatic system? Even more so.

So the next time you finish your session and head to the loo—give a little thanks to the silent flow keeping you well.

Deep Adipose Tissue: “A new study strengthens the growing focus on the Deep Adipose Tissue (DAT) layer—situated in the deeper part of the subcutaneous connective tissue and distinct from the Superficial Adipose Tissue—as a frequent source of myofascial pain dysfunctions. For manual therapists, this adds further support to the assumption that techniques involving shear or cupping-like traction may be more effective than relying solely on vertical pressure.”

The Bridge Back Project has sponsored pioneering research showing that Fascial Counterstrain may be effective in treating PTSD. To our knowledge, this is the first study demonstrating that bodywork can make a measurable difference for those living with PTSD.

Congratulations to my colleagues and amazing teacher’s on this amazing accomplishment. It’s been a long eight years of dedication to bring this research to life, and the impact could be profound.

The need is immense and we can only hope the VA and others take notice of this profound work.

I hope this research can continue to grow to show efficacy and proof of concept.

Well done, to everyone who made this possible! You guys fu***ng did it!
