Physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health and should be incorporated into your daily routine.
I have had a lot of people ask me what the recommended amount of exercise they should get throughout the week….

- Children aged 5-17 years should at least get an average of 60 minutes per day of moderate-vigorous physical activity
- Adults aged 18-64 should get at least 150-300 minutes of moderate-intense physical activity per week (30-60 minutes per day) or 75 minutes of vigorous-intense activity or a combination of both. Adults should also add in a strengthening activity at least 2 days a week.
- Older adults aged 65 + should do the same as adults 18-64, but add in multicomponent physical activity that helps with functional balance and strengthening.

Regular physical activity provides physical and mental health benefits, and improves overall well being. In children, physical activity improves motor and cognitive development, encourages healthy growth, promotes bone health and so much more. Physical activity for adults also does a wonder of things, way too many to list but a few would be prevention and management of non communicable diseases, reducing the symptoms of depression and anxiety, lowers risk of injury, better mood, sleep, and energy levels! 💪🏼
