Since 1984, the National PTA has designated the first week in May as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children.

May 6, 2025, has been designated as National Teacher Appreciation Day. The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day as a day for honoring teachers and recognizing their lasting contributions to our lives.

Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. In 1954, President Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday to Veterans Day.

Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans–living or deceased–but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime. There are approximately 23.2 million veterans in the U.S.

This Veterans Day, we honor those who have so bravely served this country. America was founded on the principles of freedom, justice, and liberty for all. Our nation's soldiers serve every day to protect our country and its ideals.

On Veterans Day, take a sacred moment to remember those who sacrifice their lives every moment to achieve peace and democracy.

Feel free to list below a Veteran that you would like to honor (yourself included) and if known, branch, rank, and when and where served.
