Mary R. Hundycz, 96; of Fulton, NY; passed peacefully early Thursday morning, January 29th, 2026; at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego, NY. Mary was born in Fulton, NY to the late Rosario and Rosaria (Fichera) Zappala. She remained a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY. Mary and her late husband George Hundycz married in 1950 and together raised three sons. Mary was employed with Fulton Savings Bank for over 20 years. She enjoyed decorating, reading and traveling. Mary was very devoted to her religion and Holy Family Church and later Holy Trinity Parish, Fulton. She was an avid volunteer and member of the Holy Family Golden Agers, and Altar Rosary Society. Mary was pre-deceased by her son Michael Hundycz in 1977and her siblings: Verna Pratt, Josephine Davis and R. Joseph Zappala. She is survived by her sons: Larry (Roxanne) Hundycz of The Villages, Florida; and Daniel (Michele Picuri) Hundycz of Horseheads, NY; her grandson: Christopher Hundycz and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Parish, Fulton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at the convenience of the family. There will be no Calling Hours. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton, NY. The Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton, NY has care of the arrangements.

John F. Dzencelowcz Sr., 74, of Baldwinsville, NY died Friday January 30, 2026 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse. John was born in Syracuse the son of the late Joseph and Celia (Jankowski) Dzencelowcz. John owned and operated JD Carpet Service, Syracuse, for 36 years, and he later worked for Home Depot, in Cicero for 12 years and Lowes in Liverpool for 3 years as their carpet salesman. He enjoyed repairing cars, and to his family he was known as Mr. Fix It for all their needs. John was on the advisory board at Holy Cross Polish Catholic Church in Lakeland. He is survived by his loving family his wife of 56 years Kathleen Dzencelowcz of Baldwinsville, and their children John Dzencelowcz Jr. of CA, Jamie Dzencelowcz of NC, Kelly (Harlon) Rotnour of Syracuse, and Kimberlie Reeves of Baldwinsville. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Merrick, Drew, Krimson “Cage”, Kadia, and his sister Antoinette (Harold) Mundstock of N. Syracuse. He was predeceased by his siblings Regina Tergerson, and Joseph Dzencelowcz. Dr. William J. Williams, 91; of Fulton, NY passed peacefully surrounded by family at Oswego Hospital, Oswego Sunday, February 1st, 2026. He was born in Fulton, NY; to the late Joseph and Columba (Signorile) Williams. Dr. Williams remained a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY. He was a graduate of Fulton High School and the University of Buffalo. Dr. Williams was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He was a United States Veteran having served as a Captain in the Air Force from 1959 to 1961. Dr. Williams owned and operated William J. Williams DDS., Fulton from 1961 until retiring. He was an active member of the community and served as longtime member and past president of Fulton Kiwanis. He proudly helped facilitate the building of the Fulton Kiwanis fields. Dr. Williams was a charter member of Beaver Meadows, and he was a part of the design and construction team of the Beaver Meadows Golf Course. William was also a past member and tireless volunteer of the Italian American Club, Fulton, the Fulton Lion’s Club and the Knights of Columbus, Fulton. Dr. Williams was also a past board member of St. Luke Health Service, Oswego and Bishop Commons, Oswego. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 60 years: Margaret Ann Williams in 2019 and his sister: Ann Sullivan. Dr. Williams is survived by his five children: Christopher (Veronica) Williams of Fulton, NY; Cynthia (Walter) Ciesla of Oswego, NY; Maria (David) Johnson of Oswego, NY; Eileen (Steven) Richardson of Phoenix, NY; and Joseph (Karen) Williams of Watertown, NY; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Calling Hours will be held 2:00 to 4:00 PM Thursday at the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., Fulton. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday at Holy Trinity Parish where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Leo. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Patricia Cooper Maxon passed away on Wednesday January 21, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born on December 10, 1941 in Liverpool NY, to the late Manford and Eleanor (Ames) Lehne. Her family moved to Sterling when she was a young girl. She married Clarence (Coop) Cooper in 1963 where she raised 2 sons. Her and her husband ran a successful saw mill business in Fair Haven called Lichenheim Cooperage. In later years, she built Springbrook Golf Course on the family farm. She was a talented artist who loved creating paintings of people in her life and her community. Pat is predeceased by her husband’s Clarence Cooper and Fred Maxon. She is also predeceased by a brother, Manford Lehne, son, Steven Cooper Sr., and grandson, Steven Cooper Jr. She is survived by her son Curtis (Lisa) Cooper of Sterling, a granddaughter, Jennifer Cooper (Austin TX), grandson Cameron (Caitlin) Cooper of Sterling, great grandchildren, Caroline and Kayce Cooper. She is also survived by a sister, Pricilla “Nikki” (Ron) Kittren and Peter (Brenda) Lehne along with several nieces and nephews. As per Pat’s wishes, there will be no services. Rose Kuzawski, 87, of Oswego died Saturday January 24, 2026, peacefully at home with her family comforting her. Mrs. Kuzawski was born in Oswego the daughter late Anthony and Josephine (Cira) Mangano, where she remained a lifetime resident of Oswego. She was an employee of SUNY Oswego for 30 years as the secretary for the Industrial Art Program. Mrs. Kuzawski enjoyed going bowling, and playing a good round of golf. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Robert Kuzawski of Oswego, and her brother James (Katherine) Mangano of CA, and several nieces and nephews. In honoring the wishes of Mrs. Kuzawski services will be private. The Kuzawski family would like to thank Dr. Micheal Stephens and his staff for their wonderful care, support, and compassion. Leonard Dow Cool, 84, of Oswego, NY and Orlando FL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, at University Hospital in Syracuse, NY with loving family by his side. Raised on a dairy farm in Adams, NY, Leonard developed a strong work ethic and lifelong values. A gifted student and athlete, he attended the United States Naval Academy and was honorably discharged due to a health condition, later being recognized as a disabled veteran. In the years that followed, he devoted himself to education, earning a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education, both from SUNY Cortland and later a degree in Library Studies from Syracuse University. In the years that followed, he met and married the love of his life, Marianne, and together they shared 53 beautiful years. A devoted lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Syracuse Basketball, Leonard was also an avid golfer and member of Griffin’s Greens, where he achieved every golfer’s dream, a hole-in-one on the eighth hole. Most Saturday nights were spent singing along to The Lawrence Welk Show. He also enjoyed playing his trumpet, gathering with friends for his favorite card game, Bridge, and showing off his wordsmith skills in Scrabble, but on most days, you would find him quietly working through his puzzle books and reading the newspaper. Throughout his life, he was deeply committed to giving back, locally delivering the news to neighbors along his Oswego paper route and nationally supporting numerous charitable causes. His kindness and generosity were unmatched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched through his teaching and compassion. Leonard leaves behind two children, Don and Matthew Cool of Austin, TX from his first marriage and three stepchildren, Mark (Patricia) Caster of Vero beach, FL, AnnMarie (JD) Caster of Flat Rock, AL and Greg (Lorraine) Caster of Oswego, NY, his brother Jerry Cool of NC; his 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, a niece and nephews. Leonard is pre-deceased by his parents Margaret (Bowman) and Donald Cool, his brother Clifford Cool and his loving wife Marianne.

Claudia Jane (Robinson) Lower, 82; passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at her home in Palermo, NY after a short battle with cancer. Jane was born on January 1st, 1944; in Fulton, NY to the late Paul Robinson and Lois Schooley. Claudia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who always thought of others before herself. She gave sacrificially and loved deeply. Claudia lived in many states throughout her 82 years and during her employment as a long-haul team truck driver with her husband Charles. She was also a school bus driver in various states and worked several factory jobs. Jane loved attending church at River of Life, Oswego; and spending time with her church family. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed chatting on the phone with them to catch up on their lives. Jane also spent countless hours crocheting blankets and scarves to share as gifts. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 47 years, Charles Lower Sr., and being an avid animal lover she also missed her beloved dog Peanut. Mrs. Lower is survived by her four children: Patricia Bashlor of OK, Charles (Ann) Lower Jr., of TN, Paul (Robin) Lower of Palermo, NY; and Deborah Lower of KY. She leaves behind quite a legacy in her beloved 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jane is also survived by her brothers: Howard (Kathy) Mason, Jimmy Mason and pre-deceased by her brother John (Renee) Evans Sr. A Celebration of Life Ceremony is planned for 2:00 PM Sunday, February 1st, 2026; at River of Life Church, 129 City Line Road, Oswego, NY. Rose St. Phillips Bevacqua, 104, formerly of Fulton, New York, passed on January 1, 2026 in the Florida home of her eldest son James, as was her wish. She was born in Fulton in 1921 to Alfred and Laura (Abbatecola) St. Phillips on Hart Street, where her father had a bakery and a nearby grocery store. A graduate of Fulton High School’s Class of 1940, she had been active in girl’s field hockey, the Mermaid’s swimming group, dramatics club, and tap dancing. At Nestles during WWII she made “Army bars.” In 1947 she married local crooner Anthony “Tony” Bevacqua, and they had four children. A rewarding teacher’s aide career at Oak Street School was capped with a memorable retirement ceremony attended by all nine of her siblings. She had many friends during an independent sojourn in Port Angeles, Washington, and dutifully volunteered at the Clallam County Commissioner’s Office. In 2005 she moved to Florida, where she became a popular and beloved figure at Pine Run Estates in Ocala. Well into her 90’s she participated and even placed in senior games, regularly attended physical fitness class, bingo nights, Crafters & Quilters, Red Hatters, dances, and holiday parties. At home she crafted gifts for others, including greeting cards, jewelry, paper art, and bead work. Although her children were foremost, Rose was a mother, teacher, and giver to all, deserving of her internet username, “Saint Rosa Bella.” She is survived by her children Charlene Bryant, James Bevacqua, Jerry (Sue) Bevacqua, and Anthony Bevacqua; siblings Joe St. Phillips, Tony St. Phillips, Jean Feeney, Carm Warner and Marie Pinch; and her grandchildren, Richard and Laura Bevacqua of Hawaii. Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services at Holy Trinity Church and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery will both take place in the spring. Francis “Fritz” Ford, age 100, of Fulton, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Seneca Hill Manor, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fulton, the son of the late Harry and Pyra (Bennett) Ford, and remained a lifelong resident of the city, where he and his late wife, Clara “Tudy” Ford, raised their family. Fritz was a devoted family man who was completely unselfish when it came to his family’s needs. He worked with IBEW Local #328 and Local #43 at nuclear power plants until his retirement. Mr. Ford proudly served in the United States Army during World War II with the 8th Army Division and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in service. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara Ford; his daughter, Carol Ford; and his brother, Donald Ford. Mr. Ford is survived by his son, Robert (Donna Simmons) Ford of Edgewater, FL; two grandchildren, Michael Ford of Florida, and Lindsay (Michael) Faulkner of Oswego; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Demling, Tanner Demling, and Caitlin Whitney; one great-great-grandchild, Weston Hadcock; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Ford; his niece, Renee (Rob) Warren; and his neighbors and devoted caregivers, Tiffany and Jared Gilles. Thomas N. Ryan 68, of Sterling died Thursday December 25, 2025 at the Oswego Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Washington, DC the son of the late Thomas and Violet (Rideout) Ryan. Tom was the owner and operator of Sterling Stage Kampitheater, where he put together music venues and was a music promotor. He served in the United States Marine Corp. Tom enjoyed going fishing, golfing, playing poker, and cooking for his daughter. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Ryan of Sterling, and his siblings Tracy Ryan, Patti Ryan, and Michael (Lori) Ryan. Tom has requested there be no services. Marian Rose King, 97, of Oswego, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, with her loving family by her side after a short illness. She was born to the late Frank and Phillipa (Talamo) Scozzari on September 2, 1928, in Oswego Town. Marian met the love of her life, the late Carroll King, while working at Marathon (later Hammermill Paper Company). Even though it took 6 months for her to agree to go on a date with him, they were married on February 23, 1957, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto. They resided in Oswego most of their lives, except when they were snowbirds and spent winters in sunny Florida near friends for several years.
After working at Hammermill, Marian got her real estate license and was a successful real estate agent with Galloway and Chetney Realty companies, along with running rental properties with Carroll. In their golden years, they vacationed in Hawaii and Puerto Rico with “the Chiefs,” the late Tom and Anne Mosher. She also was a card shark up until her passing, still easily beating her family in Skipo, Phase 10, Uno and Shanghai. Her lucky streak followed her whenever she visited a casino, playing her favorite game, the “one-armed bandits” aka slot machines, winning several times over the years. Marian was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dog mom. Her infamous spaghetti sauce, along with her ‘ronis and meatballs, were made with love each week to feed her growing family at every Sunday dinner at Grandma and Grandpa King’s house. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll; her sister, Mary Scozzari; and her brothers, Jack, Phillip, Anthony, and Joseph Scozzari.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard and Mary King, of Oswego, Rosemary and David Place of Minetto, Deborah and Daniel Leonard, of Syracuse; her sisters, Josephine Kells, of Hannibal, and Rose Cullen, of Paducah, Kentucky; her grandchildren and their significant others, Richard King Jr. and Mandy Kirsch, Nicholas and Nicole King, Erin Place, Brittany Terotta and Jonathan Bartholomew, Allison Leonard and Jake Shulroff, and Sean Leonard; her great-grandchildren, Nina, Benjamin, and Ella King; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4-6 p.m., Monday, January 12, at Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th. St., Oswego. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2912 State Route 48, Minetto. She will be entombed in All Saints Mausoleum in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oswego.

Joan Smith, 85; of Fulton, NY passed away Sunday, December 28th, 2025, after enduring a lengthy illness at Central Park & Rehabilitation, Syracuse, NY. Joan was born in Fulton, NY to the late Milton and Matilda (Kline) Baldwin. She remained a resident of Fulton, NY for most of her life. She owned and operated Joan Smith’s Beauty Shop, Fulton for several years. Mrs. Smith was a wonderful mother who enjoyed cooking, baking and cleaning for her family. It was important to her to make sure that her children had a nice hot meal each night. Joan is survived by her children: Annmarie Smith; Marilyn (Robert) Passafiume; John Smith and Christine (Ron) Boland; her brothers: Milton (Nancy) Baldwin Jr. and Lewis (Colleen) Baldwin; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
