Shirley Lou Davies passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 16. She was born in the spring on May 9 to Lynn and Margaret (Hogan) Hill.

She was a lifelong resident of Scriba. She was an only child growing up on her family’s farm and was very close to and spent most of her childhood with her first cousin Elaine (Hill) Howard. Together they enjoyed the outdoors.

After a first date in which he offered to teach her how to drive a car, Shirley later married William (Bill) Davies in 1957. They were together until his passing in 2019. They traveled together throughout the United States and enjoyed spending time with their family and close friends. Shirley loved dancing and exercising, always one to be on the move. She also made many trips to New York City with her daughter to see Broadway shows.

As a loving homemaker, Shirley excelled in gardening and shared many of her vegetables to family and friends. She also enjoyed birdwatching and all animals, including the several pets they had throughout the years. Her dogs Buddy and Oscar filled her heart with great joy. With her personal time, Shirley enjoyed shopping, sitting out in the sun, crocheting, and was an avid reader, making multiple trips to the Oswego Public Library in a week.

Shirley’s memory lives on in her children David (Martha) Davies and Deborah (John) Lawton, her grandchildren Casey (Mike) Smith, Kyle Lawton, Dakota Davies, and Craig Lawton; and her great-grandsons Gage and Clay Smith, with her third great-grandson due in October. She loved her family in a warm and caring way that they will always hold dear.

Honoring Shirley’s request, services will not take place.

Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Dowdle Funeral Home.

In Loving Memory of Trisha Lynn Pittsley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Trisha Lynn Pittsley, who left this world far too soon on at the age of 60. A radiant soul with a free spirit, Trisha brought laughter, love, and light into every life she touched.
Known for her fun-loving nature and infectious sense of humor, Trisha had a rare gift for turning
ordinary moments into cherished memories. Her kind, tender heart made her a safe harbor for both people and animals alike—especially her beloved cats, who were never far from her side.
Nature was her sanctuary, and she found joy in the simple beauty of a walk in the woods, the sound of birdsong, or the peaceful stillness of a quiet morning. She lived life on her own terms, full of curiosity and compassion, always seeking out wonder in the world around her.
Above all, Trisha was deeply devoted to her family. Whether celebrating milestones or just spending time together, she made sure everyone felt loved and included. Her warmth, generosity, and unique spirit will be missed more than words can express.
Though her time with us was far too short, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her loving mother and step father- Richard and Darlene Pittsley, and step sister Diane Lindquist.
She is survived by her father Carl Cortright, her son Christopher Shaw, half-brothers Todd Pittsley and Bill and John Cortright, half-sisters Christine Cortright-Otero, and Darlene Cortright MacDonald as well as her beautiful grandchildren: Kamilyn Shaw, Dakota Ingersoll and Brittany Shaw.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 at the Dowdle Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fruit Valley Veterinary Clinic in Oswego NY in her memory.
