Julie Ann Merritt Mazzoli, 56, of Fulton, New York, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, after a 10 month battle with glioblastoma.
Born in the Oswego Hospital on September 24, 1969, to Chuck Merritt and Donna Hartranft, Julie was a lifelong resident of Fulton and a proud graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School. From her earliest days, she built deep, lasting friendships that carried her through every stage of life. Her circle of school friends became more like family. They were a constant source of laughter, loyalty, and stories that will be retold for years to come.
Julie’s greatest joy and accomplishment were her daughters, Jordynn (Micheal) Cappelletti and Jenifer Merritt. She poured her heart into raising them with strength, independence, and unconditional love. As a single mother, she put herself through school while climbing to become Senior Vice President of the Loan Department at Fulton Savings Bank, where she was admired for her integrity, intelligence, and leadership.
Julie had a gift for understanding people. She was the calm in every storm. She was the family mediator, the voice of reason, and the devil’s advocate who always saw every side. Her wisdom, humor, and honesty made her the one everyone turned to for advice and perspective.
A fierce competitor and natural athlete, Julie was known across Central New York as one of the best softball pitchers in the region. Especially cherished by the Central Square American Legion team. She brought that same spirit into every part of her life. From her career to her friendships to the co****le boards on summer nights.
In the later years of her life, Julie found love and laughter with Mark Mazzoli, building an easygoing, adventure-filled life together. They enjoyed camping, side-by-side trail rides, and time with their close-knit group of friends. Julie also cherished her role as stepmother to Ethan (Trisha), Brookelle, and Maddox (McKenna), and as a proud grandmother to Achilles, Athena, Kahleesi, Matteo, River, and Levi.
Julie will be forever cherished by her parents, Chuck and Donna Merritt; her siblings, Jeff (Emily) Merritt, Jenine (Charlie) Britton, and Jessica (Mike) Hodges; her niece and nephew, Kala (Tim) Perras and Ty Hodges; and her many beloved cousins and aunts.
Julie will be remembered for her strength, humor, compassion, and grace. She lived her life with courage, kindness, and conviction. Her legacy of love and wisdom will live on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 - 5:00 at the Dowdle Funeral Home
