If you are a Black sister I wanted to say I see you. If you are a POC sister of DPhiE I see you.

To my white sisters, alumn and active, we say we we stand for justice.
We have this moment to show that. I ask one thing, check in on a Black Friend today or watch a YouTube clip by Robin Diangelo or watch 13th.

If anyone wants an ear PM me and I am here to listen.

I am AfroLatina, my life I have been for the most part , accepted into black, brown and white worlds.

From my experience I can say racism lives. And bias is in me. I swim in the water of it. I work to release it everyday.

Black people are dying unjustly.

This is Gigi. I need some lightness today. Looking at the Triad and I love to see our sister Christene Barberich (beta’sp 88), my pledge sister, is one of the headline speakers at our leadership forum in July at Disney. I want to go! Not sure we will be out of this COVID-19 mess, or that I can go realistically but yay!

I think my niece Blakely is my best shot at a legacy. My sister is Kappa Alpha Theta so my chances are slim. But Blakely drew a unicorn!

Hats off or snaps to sister Sara 'Goose'. This person has literally traveled the world in the last 12 months or so. I am friends with her on FB and seeing her adventures brings me great joy.

I LOVE THIS so much! Sara I would love to hear: what you learned, fave place and why.

PS: I know we have a bunch of sisters who have traveled a lot.

If you are passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work..and you live in the NYC area and are seeking an entry into this field.. check this out.

The organization is the Perception Institute. I do a lot of work with them. They are social scientist doing cutting edge work in the field of Diversity/Equity and Inclusion.. See below... this is a great job for recent NYC Grad.

Reports to: Co-Founder/Co-Director

About Perception:

Perception Institute is a consortium of researchers, advocates, and strategists who translate cutting edge mind science research on race, gender, ethnic, and other identities into solutions that reduce bias and discrimination, and promote belonging. We work in sectors where bias has the most profound impact—education, healthcare, media, workplace, law enforcement, and civil justice. Perception's core services include needs assessments related to workplace equity, workshops on mind science content, synthesis of mind science research, and other client-facing support to promote belonging in workplaces and drive equity in outcomes.

At Perception, we turn research into remedies—designing studies, evaluations, interventions, and communications strategies. We craft real-world solutions for everyday relationships, to help us all navigate difference.

Job Summary:

The Administrative Assistant provides seamless support to the Perception Institute’s Co-Director and a small team of Perception staff. The ideal candidate takes pride in helping to make a team of busy, hard-working people more organized, efficient and effective. Job Responsibilities:

Own the Co-Director’s calendar, coordinating her schedule with a strong understanding of her priorities. This requires proactively addressing competing demands and resolving related conflicts, and taking the lead on communication and follow up with clients and the internal team as needed. A successful Administrative Assistant will approach this proactively, looking ahead on the Co-Director’s calendar to ensure that emerging conflicts are addressed and resolutions are found and communicated in a timely fashion.

Own the Perception Institute workshop calendar, maintaining an up-to-date view of availability for Perception facilitators and managing workshop requests from clients accordingly.

Manage responses to incoming requests from new and potential clients, ensuring that all inquiries receive a timely response. Initiate client intake process and coordinate follow up as needed.

Assist in the preparation of documents and presentations for both internal and external meetings (including copyediting).

Make travel arrangements, coordinating flights, lodging accommodations, and other itinerary specifics.

Develop and drive special projects that help improve the overall administrative and operational functions of the team.

A sense of humor, flexible nature, and willingness to wear multiple hats.

Interest or experience in social justice or previous experience working at a non-profit organization, a plus.

Perception Institute is an equal opportunity employer. Our work is centered on helping clients to develop cultures of belonging, and we understand that work begins with what we call B.R.I.C.K. (Belonging, Respect, Investment, Conversation and Kindness) within our own team. Core to Perception's model is the engagement of a multi-racial/multi-ethnic team with varied cultural, academic, and professional experiences.
