Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I prepare—and what do I bring?
-Avoid shaving, tanning, waxing—or anything else that would increase the sensitivity of your skin.
-We provide A&D ointment in each float room to protect any small cuts and grazes from stinging!
-If you wear contacts, we recommend you bring a case to store them.
-Hair color needs to be “set” before coming in to float (about two wee
ks.) Please reschedule if it is not.
-We encourage clients to avoid caffeine for at least 4 hours before floating for the most relaxing experience.
-If you have extensions or had a keratin treatment we may not recommend floating.
-Eat a light meal before your session. If you come on an empty stomach, you may be distracted by stomach grumbles.
-There’s a lot of salt in our float tanks. We recommend comfortable garments that are easy to change in and out of.
-We provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, q-tips, makeup remover and complimentary towels, comfortable slides, and a robe.
-We encourage clients to float nude for the greatest experience—each room does have its own private shower and changing area for complete privacy with a locking door. Plus, certain fabric dyes and softeners can interfere with our pristine water. What are the benefits of float therapy? Benefits include stress relief, injury recovery, chronic pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, anxiety relief, improved sleep quality, improved blood flow for muscle pain relief, inflammation relief and so much more! Visit our float therapy page for more information. What are the differences between the float rooms? Our Deluxe Quest Float Suites (Ananda, Boketto, Metanoia, and Noor) are very spacious with high ceilings that allow you to enter fully upright. It is as if you are stepping into a “room”. These suites are perfect for those who like a more open environment or want to do a couple’s float! The Revolution Float Orb (Ukiyo) is a “womb-like” experience for seasoned floaters or for those prefer an enclosed experience. The RFO is the largest pod in the industry—perfect for athletes and taller floaters. And, with the orb, you can leave the domed top completely open if you prefer. Keep in mind that you may feel a temperature difference against your skin. Can I float while pregnant? Floating while pregnant can remove the pressure off your lower back and provide the perfect environment to bond with your baby. Plus, the stress relief, pain relief and sleep improvement qualities are great for pregnant women. If you are in your first trimester, we recommend speaking to your doctor before you float. What if I fall asleep? Due to the large amount of Epsom salt, it is extremely hard to turn over like you would on a bed. If you do fall asleep, soft music and a soothing voice will wake you up to let you know your session is over. In some cases, we may enter the room to wake you up. Can two people float in a tank? Our Deluxe Quest Float Suites are the perfect size for this. Couple’s floats are a wonderful bonding experience for spouses, mothers and daughters or even best friends! How often should I float? For first-timers, we recommend floating three times to really get into a comfortable place. The first time you float – there is a lot of information to absorb. You may just be getting used to the idea. Your mind may be overactive. The second time – you have all the facts and you are ready to try it again… the third time is usually the charm! You can enter the tank with less anxiety simply because you’ve gathered your info and you’ve done it before. It’s starting to feel like “home”. You might set an intention or simply commit to letting go and getting the most out of this magical session! Once you have three floats under your belt, you can better gauge how each has made you feel and how you felt in the time between. Learn more: aquaspafloatcenter.com/faqs
