Today I reflect back on our NICU journey and experience. In a matter of days I went from being perfectly pregnant to joining a club I never thought I’d be a part of. I received a crash course in preemie-hood, memorizing medical acronyms and equipment practically overnight.
Every evening my heart would break over and over as I left the hospital without my baby.
And I felt this ache for 91 days…

I am fortunate to have so many colleagues and professionals in our corner to help us process and heal from this experience. Trauma can leave an imprint on the mind and body, a phenomenon that we are witnessing in real time. The good news is that there are many tools and therapies that can help rewire our nervous systems, where we find stillness and safety.
I’ve kept the conversation around this upbeat and light but please understand it is so much more than that.

My heart is beginning to come out of survival mode only to be replaced with awareness and precaution. As I return to work hygiene and sterile environments are heavy on my mind (and my hands). The safety of my family takes number one priority, especially this season where immune systems are fragile.

We have so much to be thankful for this year and every year ahead but I think right now the present moment is the best gift we can receive. And massage therapy of course, touch is an extraordinary gift too!

Well, this certainly isn’t the third quarter/ third trimester/ maternity leave post I was expecting to make but life rarely goes how we plan for it to.
Our little one decided to make a very early arrival resulting in an indeterminate NICU stay. With this news I also announce that I am out of the office until further notice.

Our family is doing well and receiving great care from medical professionals while we make small strides in this wild journey.

I have been reaching out to those currently on the books week by week. If you have not been contacted yet please note that I will be doing so in due time.

At this time I do not have a return date as a force much stronger than I will determine our plan and course of action. While I am away I encourage you to rediscover ways to care and nourish your body, mind and spirit as I will be doing the same.

Come join us for 🌟Beyond Birth: A Women’s Wellness Workshop to learn more about pre-conception, prenatal, pregnancy, and postpartum health🌟. Join our speakers as they take you through your pregnancy 🤰and motherhood journey 👩‍🍼🌟👩‍👧‍👦.

We will feature 10-minute presentations from providers such as Dr Nikki, a pediatric and prenatal chiropractor; Dr. Jessica Koch, a pelvic floor specialist; Ellise Koenn from the Fertility and Midwifery Care Center; Ali Alexander, a doula; Nikki Rode, The Infant OT to talk about breastfeeding and oral ties; Wendy Imm from Divine Grace Fertility Care, and Erica Verhoff, to talk about Best Version Therapy to support you in your journey!

Following the presentations, we will open our office up to you as an open-house where you can discuss more with each provider one on one to learn from more providers and get more information.
