Did you know we have an Autism Resource Center?

Through the support of The Coleman Foundation, The Autism Program, Illinois Department of Human Services, Hope Institute, and private donations; SRRC has been able to establish The Autism Resource Center. Since 2011, the Center has operated solely through local donations. The Autism Resource Center contains a wide variety of resources including visual supports, books, computer software used to create visual schedules, DVDs, games, structured teaching kits, learning aids, and other materials that address various issues affecting individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, their families, and the professionals with whom they work.

We currently have approximately 300 resources that can be borrowed for two weeks at a time at no charge. While we have several visual prompts already available, families and professionals can also create and individualize their own. They can be printed and laminated at no cost. We encourage you to visit the Autism Resource Center, which is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 to 5:00.

More of our wonderful staff!!

Miss Brittany has been with the center for 10 years! She has worked all over the center with the majority of her time being a Wild Thing and Preschool teacher. You will still find Miss Brittany filling in from time to time to help out but now she spends her time helping in the front office as our Administrative Assistant.

Miss Alexa J is a bright new face to SRRC! You may also see her face at B.A.S.H. She is a teacher in our preschool classroom and has been a wonderful asset to our team!

Say hello to these two wonderful ladies!!!

Miss Tristen is a wonderful teacher that has been with us for couple of years now. She shows so much love and compassion to all the littles she teaches. She is currently working in the Leap Frogs room but was in the Pooh Bears room for quite a while!

Miss Katrina has been with SRRC for a couple years. She has shared her skills in many different areas of the center as a floating teacher, but now she is a teacher in the Big Birds room!

Sami is our Occupational Therapist! She works out of our new therapy center and also travels around to provide services to children.

A pediatric occupational therapist helps children develop the skills they need for everyday activities, such as playing, learning, and taking care of themselves. They work with kids who have developmental delays, injuries, or disabilities to improve motor skills, coordination, sensory processing, and independence in tasks like dressing, writing, or social interaction.

Samantha attended Illinois State University where I she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree. She then went on to earn her Master of Occupational Therapy degree at North Central College. She has been working with children ages Birth to 18 for the last 2 years in a variety of settings including early intervention, outpatient, and the school system. Her favorite part of the profession is how rewarding it is to watch children achieve their goals alongside their families and caregivers every day.
