The other night, over dinner, my 13-year-old son dropped a broccoli bombshell. Waving a spear of the green stuff, he declared, "This isn't just a veggie; it's a superfood powerhouse!" We leaned in, intrigued.

"Check it," he said with a grin, "Broccoli's loaded with vitamins C and K. That's like, your immune system's best buddy and a bone-builder extraordinaire." His enthusiasm was catching.

"And fiber? Broccoli's got tons. It keeps you full, your digestion on point, and your weight in check." He poked at his plate, making his case.

"But wait, there's more!" he continued, "Antioxidants for cell defense, heart-healthy helpers to keep your cholesterol cool, and stuff to protect your eyes."

We were all smiles now, marveling at his pitch. "And the kicker?" he leaned in, "It's like having a cancer-fighting ninja in your body."

As dinner came to a close, my son’s pitch on broccoli's superhero status reinforced why this veggie is a staple at our table.

His vibrant rundown, brimming with passion and a knack for hitting the "whys," made us appreciate our greens even more.

Broccoli, through the eyes of an enthusiastic 13-year-old, felt not just good for us, but excitingly indispensable.

Why I take a cold shower every morning?

Every morning, as the dawn breaks and the world around slowly awakes, I’m stepping into a ritual that sets the warriors apart from the ordinary.

It's not just any ritual, though. This is your daily rendezvous with nature's most potent, invigorating force – the cold.

And as I turn that shower k**b to unleash a cascade of icy water, I remember the words of Wim Hof, "Cold is my warmest friend."

Why, you might ask, would anyone embrace such a shiver-inducing habit?

The answer lies deep within our biology and even deeper within our spirit.

The cold, my friend, is not just water at a chilling temperature. It's a teacher, a healer, and a gateway to a realm of untapped potential that lies dormant within us all.

You see, when that cold water hits your skin, something miraculous happens. Your body, in an instant, is jolted awake.

This isn't just about waking up; it's about activating a primal energy that most of us don't even know we have.

Your heart rate increases, your circulation gets a turbo boost, and your body starts pumping out endorphins.

These are the body's natural painkillers, giving you a sensation of euphoria.

Suddenly, you're not just awake; you're alive in a way that coffee or a morning jog can't replicate.

But it's not just about feeling good.

This daily plunge into cold water is a testament to your willpower.

It's easy to stay comfortable, to remain wrapped in the warm cocoon of your bed.

It takes a warrior's spirit to face the cold head-on, to welcome it as your warmest friend.

This act of bravery doesn't just prepare you for the day; it prepares you for life.

It's a daily affirmation that you can face discomfort, that you can find warmth and strength in the most unlikely places.

And let's not forget the health benefits that science has begun to uncover.

Improved circulation, reduced inflammation, enhanced immune response – these are just the tip of the iceberg.

By embracing the cold, you're not just challenging your body; you're healing it, tuning it like a finely crafted instrument to perform at its peak.

So, why do I take a cold shower every morning?

Because it's more than just a shower. It's a declaration.

A declaration that I will not shy away from challenge, that I will greet adversity with open arms and find comfort in the discomfort.

It's a moment of connection with the ancient wisdom of our ancestors, who knew the value of the natural world's challenges.

In embracing the cold, we find a warmth and vitality that the modern world often lacks.

We find a clarity of mind and a strength of spirit that carries us through our day.

So, next time you hear the water running cold and feel that initial hesitation, remember: "Cold is my warmest friend." Embrace it, and let it transform you.

Yesterday was an interesting day. I spent the entire day immersed in work at home, focusing on tasks that demanded my full attention. By the evening, I realized I needed a breakβ€”a moment to reset and recharge. The weather outside was cool, with a slight chill that hinted, but it wasn't the biting cold of deep winter.

After a brief walk in the fresh air, I felt invigorated but also a tad cold-ish, like the onset of something that could turn into discomfort if I didn't address it right away.

Determined to ward off any hints of a cold before they could take hold, I decided to turn to my kitchen for a remedy. I remembered reading about the benefits of Turmeric Latte, or Golden Milk, not only as a comforting warm drink but also for its potential to boost immunity and reduce inflammation. It seemed like the perfect preemptive strike against any cold symptoms lurking around the corner.

With a sense of purpose, I gathered the ingredients: oat milk, turmeric for its vibrant color and health-boosting properties, a touch of cinnamon and ginger for their warming effects, and a pinch of black pepper to enhance turmeric's bioavailability. The process of heating the milk and whisking in the spices was almost meditative, a little ritual of self-care that felt particularly satisfying.

I sweetened the golden concoction with a bit of honey, enjoying the way it melted into the warm, spiced milk, and added a teaspoon of coconut oil for a smooth texture. Pouring the latte into my favorite mug, I took a moment to appreciate the rich, golden color and the inviting aroma that filled my kitchen.

As I sipped the Turmeric Latte, I felt a gentle warmth spreading through me, comforting and reassuring. It was more than just the physical warmth of the drink; it was the knowledge that I was taking a small but meaningful step to care for myself.

The blend of spices seemed to work their magic, and today, I'm pleased to report that all those cold-ish symptoms have vanished. I feel refreshed, revitalized, and ready to tackle another day of work.

This little experience with the Turmeric Latte has reminded me of the power of simple, natural remedies and the importance of listening to my body's needs. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best way to beat the onset of discomfort is with a cup of something warm, spiced, and made with a little bit of love.

Recipe for Human:

You are not simply a name and a surname, endowed with a social history. Here is your true composition.

You are 71% clear water, 18% carbon, 4% nitrogen, 2% calcium, 2% phosphorus, 1% potassium, 0.5% sulfur, 0.5% sodium, 0.4% chlorine. Plus a good spoonful of various trace elements: magnesium, zinc, manganese, copper, iodine, nickel, bromine, fluorine, silicon. Plus even a small pinch of cobalt, aluminum, molybdenum, vanadium, lead, tin, titanium, boron.

That's the recipe of your existence.

All these materials come from the combustion of stars and can be found elsewhere than in your own body. Your water is similar to that of the most mundane of oceans. Your phosphorus makes you akin to matches. Your chlorine is identical to that used to disinfect swimming pools.

But you are not just that.

You are a chemical cathedral, an astounding construction set with its dosages, its balances, its mechanisms of barely conceivable complexity. For your molecules themselves are made of atoms, particles, quarks, void, all bound by electromagnetic, gravitational, electronic forces, of a subtlety that is beyond you.

Nothing that surrounds you in time and space is useless. You are not useless. Your ephemeral life has meaning. It does not lead you to a dead end. Everything has a meaning.

Act.

Do something, maybe tiny, but for heaven's sake, do something with your life before you die. You were not born for nothing. Discover what you were born for. What is your tiny mission?
